Voormi Male

Yes, I know that those fur-clad imbeciles are still alive and kicking. Mammon and I are still working out how to get rid of them and their bloated 'god' without drawing attention to ourselves. Mammon wants to go in guns blazing and take whatever treasure they have for himself, while I'm considering inventing something that'll collapse the volcano they live under and leave no survivors.
~ Belphegor.

The Voormis (Voormi for one) are a race of cave-dwelling humanoids who worship Tsathoggua. The Voormis considered themselves the chosen minions of Tsathoggua and his direct descendants.

The Voormis practiced a harsh form of communication that involved the pounding of fists and dog-like howling and barking, a trait which greatly intimidated early human settlers of Greenland, the land where they now reside.

Description[]

Shaggy red-furred creatures which bear a similarity to the Himalayan Yeti, The Voormis are described as three-toed and umber in color beasts that differentiate themselves from their traditional enemies (the shaggier-haired white beasts known as the Gnophkehs who worshiped the Great Old One Rhan-Tegoth and once served as slaves alongside the Gnophkehs).

Overview[]

The Voormi are infamous for their form of communicate that involves a series of dog-like howls and yelps. They are a bloodthirsty race, and consider themselves the direct descendants of the Ogdru Hem Tsathoggua, whom they worship as a god, though they are in actuality descendants of the primal apes who once inhabited the Earth in the Antediluvian Epoch.

The Voormis practiced a harsh form of communication that involved the pounding of fists and dog-like howling and barking, a trait which greatly intimidated early human settlers of Greenland, the land where they now reside. It is believed the Voormi began dwelling underground after hearing the call of Tsathoggua.

History[]

Background[]

The Voormi claim that they descend from the abhorrent Toad God, Tsathoggua. It is believed that after the Great Schism of the Primal Apes, the Voormi Tribe settled in Hyperborea, a continent which has long since been submerged below the waves of the ocean. The Voormi came to inhabit the vast cave systems under the four-coned extinct volcano named after them - Mount Voormithadreth, the tallest peak in the Eiglophian mountains, lead by their leader Voorm, who believed a greater power wall calling them to this location.

Slavery under the Reptilians[]

The Voormi made their way to Hyperborea and settled there under the leadership of the eponymous Voorm, only there was already a pre existing civilization of serpentine humanoids known as the Reptilians who had established a vast empire in the cave systems beneath the continent.

When the apes unwittingly encountered the technologically superior civilization, they quickly became enslaved and were forced to serve as slaves to the Reptilians deep underground. Although they became enslaved by the Reptilians encountered there, the Voormi would later consider Tsathoggua to be responsible for their liberation, and worship him with even more fervor.

Liberation of the Voormi[]

Some millennia later, Hyperborea would collapse into the sea. The culprit behind its destruction was Rahab who, in a fit of rage, tore into the continent, flooding massive sections of the land and even tore a chunk of the continent off to prevent ti from falling into the hands of evil.

This event was the only moment that caught the Reptilians completely off guard. When the underground cities of the Reptilians began to flood, the Voormi seized upon the opportunity and rebelled, slaying many of their former masters in the violent struggle. In order to escape their soon to be sunken kingdom, the Reptilians set another race of slaves, known as the Gnophkeh, loose upon the rebelling Voormi. Under the telepathic command of their Reptilian masters, the Gnophkeh fought savagely against the Voormi, allowing the Reptilians to escape.

After this great struggle, the Voormi managed to establish a thriving culture in the surface Hyperborea before the coming of humans. They erected citadels in the island of Ta-Shon and added to the arcane knowledge of the Pnakotic Manuscripts. The Voormi also repopulated many of the abandoned Reptilians cities which remained intact after The Great Sinking of Hyperborea, and adopted some of the technology left behind by their ancient masters.

War with the Gnophkeh[]

Since the fall of the Reptilians, a protracted war against their ancestral enemies the Gnophkeh has slowly caused Voormi numbers to dwindle to the point they have become hunted almost to extinction by the human settlers who eventually colonized that ancient land. Moreover, it is believed that Tsathoggua abandoned the Voormi and retreated to the Black Pit of N'kai, where he remains in slumber to this day.

This caused them to retreat to their cavernous habitats beneath the great volcano Voormithadreth, where they still survive, living a subterranean existence in imitation of their master Tsathoggua.
