Vahagn was the Armenian god of fire, thunder, and war, who was known to battle the dragon Vishap in their version of the Chaoskampf. Some time during ancient history, he formed a "triad" with Aramazd and Anahit.
Overview[]
It is said that Vahagn fought and killed draconid serpents known as Vishap, hence his title Vishabakagh, "dragon reaper".In legend, every so often Vahagn would plunge into the lake to kill any Vishap that had grown large enough to devour the world. He was invoked as a god of courage, later identified with Heracles from Greek myth and Ornstein, a Knight of Hell.
