Ukonvasara.
Ukonvasara, also known as the Ukonkirves, is the main-weapon of the Finnish thunder-deity Ukko.
Overview[]
As the weapon of the storm-god, the Ukonvasara could be used to create lighting. Old Finnish warriors carried stone-axes called thunderstones (ukonvaaja in Finnish), likely to honour their god. Axe-shaped stones were also used by shamans for healing-purposes. The Ukonvasara has also become a key-symbol among Finnish members of the Polytheistic Reconstructism, similair to the cross in Christianity.
