Thessaly
Thessaly is a powerful witch from Ancient Thessaly. A chaotic neutral individual, she stands between the lines of what constitutes as good and evil. While having aided many it was mainly for her own gain and self-benefit.
Appearance[]
Thessaly appears as a tall and slender woman of Hellenic descent since she was born in Greece and has long brown hair that goes past her shoulders and green eyes. She usually wears a pair of round eyeglasses.
Overview[]
Thessaly is an ancient and powerful witch hailing from the forgotten lands of Thessaly. Virtually almost nothing is known about her origins as she has made a very concerted effort to conceal most traces of her existence. She was born “in the day of greatest darkness, in the year the bear totem was shattered” with the former likely referring to either the flood that was summoned by Zeus or the second deluge sent by God.
She once lived in the Thessalian temple in Knossos, and was in a coven of Thessalian witches. It is believed that these witches were the first generation of the Witch of Izalith's lineage, making Thessaly among the oldest witches that ever walked the Earth. Her coven was all but wiped out during the two floods to destroy the warring werekin and later the Nephilim, all except her leaving Thessaly the only survivor of her coven. Over the centuries, she has made bargains with numerous entities, extending her lifespan in exchange for her services. She has also aided several powerful individuals, notable of which was Cain where she helped him in preventing Theokoles from regenerating after Cain defeated the Great Evil and placed his severed parts in mystically bound jars. Another was when she informed Absalom of where and how to achieve immortality by seeking out Kupala.
As a witch she utilizes any form of magic including spells, charms, and powers from all countries and belief systems, ignoring distinctions at her level of ability. Thessaly stands on the line of ally and enemy for one moment she could be aiding the Sons of Sparda and their allies or the next she becomes a dangerous enemy to any of them if they raise up arms against her. Thessaly prefers to lay low, living a quiet life that would be periodically interrupted by one of her old enemies. This interruption usually resulted in her killing the enemy and any witnesses and then fleeing.
Personality[]
Thessaly is an intelligent, cunning and extremely manipulative individual who takes great pride in her deceit and devious nature. A remorseless, self-involved character, Thessaly is driven solely by her own self-preservation and has no problem killing mortals, though she isn't malicious, harming only those who would attempt to harm her. Even so, she is exceptionally ruthless towards her enemies, whether they are people she loathes or disapproves of or someone who has simply annoyed her.
Thessaly has also demonstrated that she has no concern for innocent lives, as she frequently uses spells that result in their death by boiling their brains and impaling hotel employees to ceilings. She even points out to Dante that using the innocent against people like him will play out to her advantage. Furthermore, Thessaly is dangerously wrathful as she is capable of notable and thorough retribution, going to any lengths to efficiently destroy anything that has threatened her.
Because she wields incredible power Thessaly displays disregard and resentment for powerful figures and authorities, openly and deliberately defying the likes of Hell, paramilitary organizations, and even god-like individuals such as Dream without fear of the consequences, preferring to use her magic whenever and however she wished. Nix stated that while talented and skilled, she can be reckless and egocentric.
