Tepetollotl, God of the Quaking Earth
Tepeyollotl is a the Aztec god of earthquakes, echoes and jaguars. He is the eighth of the Lords of the Night who presides over it's 8th hour. His name is derived as a compound of the Nahuatl words 'tepētl' ("mountain"), and 'yōllōtl' ("heart" or "interior"), thus he is known as the Jaguar with the Heart of a Mountain.
Tepeyollotl is usually depicted as gargantuan jaguar holding a ceremonial white staff with green feathers. He is known to sometimes take the form of a Jaguar Pelt often worn by Aztec god Tezcatlipoca, to serve as a disguise for the deity. It is said that if anyone else were to wear this pelt, Tepetoyollotl would reveal himself and devour the transgressor.
