Tcho-Tcho
The Tcho-Tcho are a primeval cannibalistic tribe of hominids inhabiting the legendary Burmese city of Alaozar. They worship the Ogdru Hem and ritualistically kill and eat all humans who come too close to their city.
Description[]
They are genetically from humans, but they are notably smaller, have livid red skin, and other marked physiological differences. They appear to be the "corpse-eating cult of Leng" mentioned in the Necronomicon and have "lamas" as priests. One source suggests that only the warrior caste are bred small. They might be related to the Men of Leng in the Dreamlands. The name Tcho means "destroyer" or "sorcerer", thus the Tcho-Tcho people are the "destructive sorcerer people."
History[]
Origins[]
The Tcho-Tcho were said to be mutated forms of early hominids that inhabited the primeval Earth where few of the Old Ones dwelled during the waning days of the Battle of the Powers. According to legend, the Elder Things were fascinated by the concept of intelligent primates that instead of creating their own they decided to experiment on the existing ones on Earth before the arrival of man. The early hominids which walked the Earth were taken and studied by the Elder Things, studying them as well as genetically modifying them to witness their growth in intellect and evolution in physiology.
However, two of the Ogdru Hem, twins by the names of Zhar and Lloigor, would also encounter these hominids and instead genetically warp them into hideous monstrosities, growing them from the 'seeds' of the Twin Obscenities. Chaugnar Faugn ensnared one of the early tribes of these primal apes, known as the Miri Nigri, and brought them before the twins. Undergoing unspeakable torture and splicing, the Miri Nigri that were taken by the Zhar and Lloigor were transformed into the dreaded Tcho-Tcho, created to be a perverted mockery of mankind that would soon inherit the Earth. The hominids that were engineered by the Elder Things warred with the Tcho-Tcho tribe for many years, and as said years progressed, the primal apes moved away from the Elder Things' research grounds.
Ages Onward[]
They are noted to have been living in southeast Asia in the 1920's, having been driven out from Tibet, their homeland, by the Yeti tribe. Although, they took this in great stride as they follow an ancient legend about migrating toward the rising sun, which has caused speculation that they may have one time lived as far as Europe. A Basque legend of "dark dwarves that left their home in the Pyrenees at the command of their priests" supports that theory.
Evidence of Tcho-Tcho colonies were also found in the northern quarters of North America since ancient times, where they were shunned by local tribes as demons or evil spirits such as Wendigo. Local names for the cannibal dwarfs include "Teihiihan", "Hecesiiteihii" and "Nimerigar", derived from words referring to the legendary strength, ferocity, and savagery of the creatures.
20th Century[]
In 1902, a scientific expedition lead by Eric Marsh came too close to Alaozar, and were slaughtered by the Tcho-Tcho, although Marsh survived, having broken rank and reached Alaozar, where he was captured by the Tcho-Tcho. Inside Alaozar, he encountered the Chinese scientist Fo Lang, who had been enslaved by the Tcho-Tcho and forced to help them summon Zhar and Lloigor to be unleashed upon the world.
During a ritual, whilst the Tcho-Tcho bowed down to their high priest E-Poh, Fo Lan managed to astrally project himself and converse with the Elohim, the sworn enemies of the Ogdru Hem, who told him to convince E-Poh to open the gates to the Ogdru Hem, which would allow them to reach Alaozar. Fo Lang did so, and also convinced E-Poh to release him and Marsh to perform their own ritual. E-Poh did so, but had four guards escort them. After reaching the Plateau of Sung, Marsh and Fo Lang easily overpowered and killed their guards, and watched as the Dragon God, Ao Guang, descended and destroyed Alaozar, burying Zhar and Lloigor in the process and setting back the Old Ones'.
