Star Vampire

The Star Vampire, also known as the Shambler from the Stars, is an eldritch extraterrestrial creature that drains the blood of its victims and is normally invisible.

Description[]

Star Vampires are creatures from outer space that are normally invisible. They are voracious blood suckers, becoming visible once their bodies are full of the victim's blood, a vivid red colour. Its form is like that of a jellyfish with neither a head or any visible facial features apart from its huge maw. Their bodies have multiple muscular tentacles, each strong enough to crush a man to death and on the tips are the suckers with which it drains the blood of its victims. From the star vampires comes nonstop eerie horrifying laughter.

Overview[]

Their origins are unknown though Abraham Sapien hypothesizes that they were an ancient form of vampire horribly warped by one of the Ogdru Hem. Moreover, they also seemed to develop a fierce antagonistic relationship with the Fire Vampires but the reasons behind this rivalry is unknown.

Only one Star Vampire was encountered in 1935 through an accidental summoning by an English mystic. Robert Blake travels to his home in Providence, Rhode Island, where the mystic is initially hesitant to even open the volume, but eventually does so upon the Blake's insistence. While perusing the book, the mystic inadvertently stumbles across a spell or invocation which he believes to be a summoning towards one of the invisible "star-sent servants" spoken of in the stories surrounding Ludvig Prinn, a Belgian sorcerer burned at the stake.

Blake does not stop the mystic from reading the inscription out loud, and immediately afterwards, the room turns cold. An unearthly wind rushes in through the window, followed by a hideous laughter, which heralds the arrival of an invisible vampiric monstrosity; a Star Vampire. The monster lifts the mystic into the air, and begins feeding off of his blood leaving a flabby corpse. As the creature continues to feed, it slowly becomes more visible until its form is fully revealed. Upon witnessing the fully visible "shambler from the stars," Robert goes mad. After the creature retreats back into whence it had come, the book vanishes and Robert wanders out into the streets, shortly after setting his own friend's house on fire. While Blake struggles to move on, he subconsciously fears that the Shambler from the Stars will one day return for him.
