Spider of Leng
The Spiders of Leng, also known as the Great Spiders or Leng Spiders, are a species of monstrous and carnivorous spiders that are the children of Old One known as Atlach-Nacha.
Description[]
The Spiders of Leng appear as purple-colored arachnid creatures that appear somewhat similar to terrestrial spiders yet on a much larger scale, the smaller of the Spiders of Leng are the size of a Shetland pony; larger specimens would tower over an elephant.
Overview[]
The Leng Spiders are the brood of Atlach-Nacha and were a blight to the residents of the Dreamlands. The reason why they are dubbed as the "Spiders of Leng" is because the Great Spiders 'hijacked' the fabled Plateau of Leng while having the threads of Atlach-Nacha attached to it in a bid to perhaps end up within the Dreamlands by chance. Upon entering the Dreamlands, the Spiders of Leng would hasten the completion of Atlach-Nacha's web between the Dreaming and the waking world which will purportedly lead towards the end of the world. From then on the Spiders would become a great threat to the inhabitants of the Dreamlands, especially Dream.
Of course the Great Spiders' invasion would not come without resistance as they would be repelled by the likes of the Fables and Dream's servants as well, eventually forcing them to retreat to the southern mountains and vales of that dark lands of the Dreamworld where darkness lies as the veil between the waking world and the dreaming world. But this did not deter them in the least as they would instead resort to using human assistance, gathering deranged humans who worship the Spider Goddess. The servants in question are only referred to as the Daughters of Atlach-Nacha, where the Spiders of Leng coerce or kidnap women into the Spider Goddess's service, helping it weave the Great Web. But there was still resistance in the response of the Ananasi, servants of Ananke that oppose Atlach-Nacha's disruption of the Orderly Web.
