NAM-V-S, or Sleepers as they are dubbed, are humans that were mutated from the effects of the Progenitor Virus. They are the end result of what the Sarkics are trying to achieve by "tearing through" the limits of the flesh.
Description[]
Sleepers come in a variety of shapes though it depends on the depth of the infection from the Progenitor Virus. Some are roughly humanoid while others are towering beasts with spikes even jutting from their heads.
The basic anatomy of a common Sleeper is similar to a masculine humanoid, however, they possess several traits that render their appearance particularly gruesome. One of these features is their modified head, which is split into two halves containing several rows of teeth that vary in size. Their gut area is extremely bloated to the point of bursting the abdomen. In addition, part of the Sleeper's hip bone seems to be missing, presumably to enable them to crawl on all four legs.
Their skin colouration resembles ivory, and when 'yawning' or spasming, the faint glow emitting from within their body makes their veins visible. The inside of the body of sleepers is filled with many yellow, oval-shaped objects, resembling eggs. Their hands are lacking fingers completely, leaving only the palm area intact.

Sleepers are mutated humanoids that were exposed to the parasitic pathogen of the Progenitor Virus, specifically a variant which seems to have undergone mutation and became what is dubbed by Gentex as NAM-V. The outbreak occurred in the area where the virus crash-landed on Earth via the Chicxulub asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs 65 million years ago. Garganta, a mining facility that was built around the site of where the Chicxulub asteroid crashed in order to study the properties and elements of the contamination zone, was possibly financed by certain Sarkic groups who desired the power the lay within the asteroid, that being NAM-V at its most pure. It is indicated by one of the audio logs found by several agents from the Federal Bureau of Control that a Sarkic infiltrated a team of scientists that were sent to study the asteroid, and created a catastrophic event that led to the infection of the scientists and all other humans present within the facility.
The Sleepers appear to be extremely sensitive to light and sound to the point where they shield their bodies entirely from any source of light or sound. Because of this, the Sarkics would use them mainly during nightly assaults. According to Mother Miranda, a High Priestess of the Sarkic cult and formerly known as Vivian Durant-Croÿ, their aversion towards the light is a form of "spiritual rejection" towards the false God. Moreover, due to the more advanced and primordial properties of the Virus which emits through the asteroid, it results in mutations that splinter from the main development of the viral infection by the Mold. The positions human corpses appear in often have the victim burying their face towards the ground and covering their eyes. Coupled with the severe light-sensitivity that progressed Sleepers display and their preferred habitation of dark and foggy areas, this suggests that an early onset symptom of contamination is pain-inducing light-sensitivity. Contaminated humans would then be implied to have been shielding themselves from available light before they died. Those that survived may have evolved over time to the variations of Sleepers we see today.
