Shamsiel is the 19th fallen angel of the Grigori and the ruler of the 4th Heaven.
Overview[]
Shamsiel is the 16th Watcher of the 20 leaders of the 200 fallen angels that are mentioned in The Book of Enoch. The angels name means "Sun of God", a fitting title for the angel tasked to teach men the signs of the sun during the days of Jared, sometimes referred to as Yered.
Shamsiel was said to have lead 365 legions of lesser angels in the Zohar and was one of two aids to the Archangel Uriel in battle, the other angel being Hasdiel. Together the trio of angels were nigh unstoppable.
History[]
Genesis[]
After Adam and Eve were banished from the Garden of Eden, Shamsiel was tasked with guarding the Northern Gate of the sacred Garden from intruders alongside the Cherubim. Shamsiel was a prince of paradise, a guardian of Eden, and ruler of the fourth heaven. Shamsiel was tasked with crowning prayers and passing them onto the fifth heaven. Shamsiel was said to have guided Moses when he visited paradise in the flesh.
When the warm months brought work in the fields, Shamsiel would head the effort. It was easy to spot him out there, his great stature loomed above the other workers, beaming down at them. The time of harvest was always his favorite. He would sing as he swung a huge scythe through the field, flattening the landscape. He swayed and cut throughout the day, working until the sun dimmed over the horizon.
Disappearance[]
The year the rains left, the fields caught fire. With their loss, something left him. He would stand in the scorched remains, looking out over the darkened expanse. He was like a shadow without a body to cast it.
Trivia[]
- It is apparently some disagreement in sources as to whether Shamsiel is a fallen angel; he is still regarded as the ruler of the 4th Heaven and it has been said that he fought on the side of God during the War in Heaven according to some sources.
- The official term for Shamsiel's energy-whips/energy-tentacles is just "whips of light".
