The Servitors of the Ogdru Jahad, also known as the Idiot Flute-players, are a race of lesser eldritch deities that spend their existence in servitude of the Ogdru Jahad, such as Nyarlathotep and Azathoth

Description[]

The Servitors of the Ogdru Jahad are amorphous beings that resemble squids, frogs, or octopi which are constantly changing their shape and appearance. When needed they accompany the Outer Gods, though most of them remain within Azathoth's court. Though subservient to the will of the Outer Gods, these beings are said to be incredibly powerful, as they continually prevent Azathoth from resuming his destruction of all that is.

As extradimensional beings, they possess a mastery over music unattainable by humans, and are able to cast spells and perform magic through the playing of eldritch melodies. They can emit powerful blasts of sound to push away an attack, induce fear with the playing of certain notes, or create music with the ability to hypnotize those who hear it, an ability powerful enough to induce sleep in beings even as large and powerful as Azathoth.

Overview[]

They are said to eternally play their flutes and drums while dancing hypnotically for their masters. Their primary function is to prevent Azathoth from awakening, though they can be summoned by the Ogdru Jahad for other purposes. These extra-dimensional beings can be summoned to Earth to assist in worship and other occult ceremonies and rituals practiced by of cultists of the Old Ones. A prime example of this is when a cult of Azathoth summoned one of the Servitors to help aid them and Samyaza of the Grigori in the release of Azathoth himself.
