The Demonic Paradise Wiki

Do not look for salvation in truth. The truth is an empty chamber, waiting to be filled with the worlds of those who seek it. Pray for those pilgrims, for they may not realize when the doors lock behind them.
~ Sathariel

Sathariel is the 17th fallen angel of the Grigori. His name means the Moon of God or the Dawn of God.

Description[]

Sathariel is described in the Book of Enoch as the 17th Watcher of the 20 leaders of the 200 fallen angels. The name is believed to be of Babylonian origin and a combination of shetar and El (God) with the name meaning "side of God". Michael Knibb believes the name to mean "Moon of God" or "Dawn of God" based on the Ge'ez copies of the Book of Enoch.

It represents the Concealment of God, which hides the face of Mercy. The form of the demons attached to this Qliphoth are of black veiled heads with horns, with hideous eyes seen through the veil, followed by evil centaurs.

Overview[]

Sathariel is the second Watcher of the South, guarding the spiritual gates of the South which leads to Paradise. He was one of the very few benevolent Watchers even after his fall from grace. Sathariel was known to be a weaver of stories, for when Samyaza would speak of the tales regarding the conception of the universe and all that transpired within it, Sathariel would weave these tales from the imagination of the human mind, creating a fantastical cacophony of what can be perceived behind the veils of reality.

As he is the angel of deception, he only spins the truth into what the mortals would see from the words spoken by either him or another celestial. As such he is often referred to as the Face of Mercy, for Sathariel deceives the mind of what it envisions for it may become overwhelming. His "storied webs" come in the shape of paintings that exceed the abstractum of mortal painters, and his webs take life with every word spoken by Samyaza. He is said to provide the mortals with guiding visions and dreams though only to a specific set. He took Norea under his care after her immortality was stripped from her due to burning the Ark.

Even after his fall, it is said that Sathariel's woven celestial tapestries touched the minds of mortals and would be passed on for ages to come, leading to what would be called as abstract art, a showing of an image which deceptively hides a deeper story. His imprisonment in Sheol would mark the end of stories relating to the Grigori, and he sits within the desolate and Godless realm with an ending but no beginning or a reborn beginnings.
