Sargatanas (Art by Aleksandar Ignatov)

Brother demons, this will be a war of remembrance. A war wherein we Fallen try to reattain the grace that we once shared. Our enemy, content to wallow in the corruption of Hell, is mighty and outnumbers us many to one. But if we fight like the warrior-angels we once were, with that same, almost-forgotten, inner fire of purity, we will prevail. Yesterday you were an army of Hell. Today you are my Army of Ascension! Tomorrow, Heaven!
~ Sargatanas

Sargatanas is the Revealer of Hell or Brigadier Major-General of Hell, with command over the demons Morax, Leraje, and Valefor and is subservient to Astaroth and more importantly Beelzebub. Along with his master, he is represented by insects.

Description[]

This demon is summoned for his brainwashing abilities, necromancy, mind reading, and memory erasing and stealing, but he can also give the gift of invisibility and the skill of lovemaking. He can also open all locks, transport people to distant places and scry on other houses. Sargatanas, can also transport a human anywhere, and allowing one to see what is going on in other houses.

Overview[]

He was one of the angels (a Seraph) that fell from Heaven with Lucifer. He was perhaps one of the few demons in the Inferno that can rally the legions of Hell using his charisma and magnetic voice which impressed the likes of even Lucifer. For millennia, Sargatanas has ruled dutifully over an Infernal metropolis, as one of the members of the Six Great Officers and ruling under his master Beelzebub, but unlike most demons he has never forgotten what he lost in the Fall.

His secret desire to return to Heaven was kept hidden from his peers but was revealed to have only shared it with one individual; Sparda. As Sargatanas was a Major-General of Hell's armies he would of course have close ties with the Legendary Dark Knight who once led Hell's armies as their general. It was also due to Sargatanas having more trust in Sparda than any other demon in the Inferno, and in fact Sargatanas was actually Sparda's mentor with few whispers that it was Sargatanas's dreams and ambitions that laid the seed for Sparda's changing view on how Hell operates which would eventually lead to his subsequent rebellion and vice versa.

And sure enough Sargatanas's own rebellion would take place many millennia later. After the Apocalypse and the subsequent defeat of Satan and imprisonment of Lucifer, Sargatanas took this opportunity to reshape the status quo of Hell where he led an uprising to prove to demonkind and their captive souls that redemption is possible, but ultimately challenging the great lords of Hell who fight and scheme against one another in a bid to claim Lucifer's black throne.
