Rhogog

Rhogog

Rhogog is one of the Ogdru Hem who spawned from the 'blood' of Cthulhu. It resided within the caverns of medieval Britain where its worshippers fought against, then were later slain by, the warriors of Andraste.

Description[]

Rhogog is a being of darkness, although normally is seen in the form of a great, black tree. No matter what shape he takes, he is always very hot to the touch. It is unknown if this is simply due to Cthulhu's blood within him or some other aspect of his dark nature.

Overview[]

Rhogog is an Ogdru Hem and was born when Cthulhu's 'blood' was spilt upon the ground during a clash between the Great Dreamer and the Tuatha Dé Danann, then later with the aid of Andraste herself which occurred as Cthulhu was repelled from Ireland only to direct his course towards Britain. Intending to use the blood for some unnamed purpose, several Cthulhi put an entity into his spilt blood, an entity which would ensure that the blood would never be harmed. This entity lay dormant, gathering power, and eventually became the being called Rhogog.

In the past, three Cthulhu-worshipers devised a plan to harness Cthulhu's matter from Rhogog in order to place the stars in correct order. However, the main conflict is a debate between Rhogog and a sacrificial victim named Patrick about good and evil. The tale ends with Rhogog deciding that good and evil not being of any concern as both concepts are foreign to it, and simply kills Patrick, but it does not explain whether or not the stars are made right. To this day, the worshippers of Cthulhu attempted to find a way to use the material laying within Rhogog to manipulate the celestial courses of the stars to awaken Cthulhu. In the beginning they were stopped by Andraste's warriors then later by Hellboy himself.
