Requiem insignia
The Office of Requiem, simply referred to as "Requiem", was a Central Intelligence Agency backed international faction that is part of the Global Occult Coalition. They are responsible for containing and investigating the dimensional breaches across the globe by sending in their most elite and powerful soldier; Cain.
Overview[]
Requiem is a secretive, CIA faction that is protective of its functions, especially in the case of Cain, who they claimed as their greatest weapon in the war against demons and otherworldly hostile eldritch forces from the Black Sun Dimension. Requiem was a growing military that attained many agents within years since its initiation. Naturally, as being part of the Global Occult Coalition and opposed to general military groups, Requiem has one of the most advanced weaponry and equipment for the sole purpose of suppressing unnatural activity.
History[]
Background[]
The idea of Requiem began with the Associate Deputy Director of the Directorate of Science & Technology (DS&T), Samuel Hayden. They came together when the activation of Projekt Antikythera by Ahnenerbe member Jürgen Voller caused subsequent dimensional breaches to an outer realm known to the Nazis as the Black Sun Dimension which was also part of the Rite of Solomon. An emergency meeting was held on November 3rd, 1983 to discuss an appropriate response to Ahnenerbe's recent activities, and the dimensional breaches that had appeared across the world that led to the emergence of eldritch extra-dimensional monsters known as Apothicons. At the meeting, which included US Secretary of Defense Caspar Weinberger and CIA Director William J. Casey, Hayden proposed the creation of the "Office of Requiem", a sub-group within the DS&T that would be internationally staffed, albeit under the CIA's firm control.
Two days later, the Office of Requiem was officially formed with Hayden named as its Director. Hayden would personally handpick Requiem's Senior Staff to run the four subdivisions within the office, naming CIA Special Agent Grigori Weaver as Special Operations Officer in charge with overseeing the Strike Teams, Vietnam War veteran Major Mackenzie Carver as Head of Containment and Security, Doctor Rebecca Grey as Head of Unnatural Sciences and Doctor Olivia Pearce as Head of Energy Research. Using their resources they would man many expeditions around the world where dimensional breaches were at their highest due the effects brought forth by the Ahnenerbe's projects. However, it soon became apparent that these breaches were becoming too difficult to contain much less neutralize. But it was not until during one of their missions they came across a powerfully dangerous individual that tides would turn in their favor.
They took in this individual, who was revealed to be Cain himself, and recruited him to be their trump card and greatest asset against the invading forces of the Dark Nexus. Armed with destructive weapons and a suit of armor known as the Praetor suit, which was built by a treacherous demon known as Machiavillus, Cain became the primary weapon of Requiem to push back against the Apothicons. Behind the scenes, Olivia Pearce had other ulterior motives to the formation of Requiem; the completion of "Project Janus". Working under an unknown corporate Board of Directors, Pearce would manipulate Requiem behind the scenes although there was implication that Hayden and the board of directors were aware of Pierce's plans, but initially tolerated it as long it produced benefits for mankind's defense. At some point, she learned of the existence of an Elder God within the Black Sun dimension known as Davoth. Pearce would then devise a grand scheme to harness the power of the Dark Nexus and use Davoth for her personal use in Project Janus.
