Raguel, also known as Raguil, Rasuil, Rufael, Raquel, Rakul, Reuel or Akrasiel, is the Archangel of justice, fairness, harmony, redemption and vengeance. He is also sometimes known as the archangel of speech. His name means 'Friend of God'.
Raguel is one of the Seven Archangels whose function is to take vengeance on the world of the luminaries who have transgressed God's laws. His Number is six and his role is to watch the World of Man.
Raguel's duties have remained the same across Jewish and Christian traditions. Much like a sheriff or constable, Raguel's purpose has always been to keep Fallen Angels and Demons in check, delivering heinous judgment upon any that over-step their boundaries. He has been known to destroy wicked spirits, and cast fallen angels into Hell. Raguel also brings all the other archangels and angels to account for their improper deeds. Before the Son of Man arrives he will inhabit a man to take vengeance on the luminaries.
His chief role in Heaven is to oversee all of the lower Angels. He ensures that they're all working well together in a harmonious and orderly fashion, according to Divine order and will. Raguel loves to be a champion to underdogs, and he can help those who feel slighted or mistreated become more empowered and respected.
Raguel is also mentioned in the first writings ever found of Enoch who was the first man who ever started writing and the sentence is "Word of blessing of Henok, wherewith he blessed the chosen and righteous who would be alive in the day of tribulation for the removal of all wrongdoers and backsliders."
Raguel brings a course of fire which persecutes all the fallen luminaries. Raguel also shows Enoch The Seven Mountains and in the midst of it- the high mountain which is the throne of God where the Lord of Glory will sit along with the tree of wisdom.
Raguel is not mentioned in the canonical writings of the Bible. However, in 2 Enoch, the patriarch Enoch was carried as a mortal to and from Heaven by the angels Raguel and Sariel.
Possible historical references to a similar figure from other cultures can be found in Babylonian culture as "Rag" (some translations say Ragumu), and in Sumerian as "Rig" which means to talk or speech. Thus, these similar characters represented balance in those cultures as well.
