Nyyrikki, also known as Nyrkes, was the Finnish god of the hunt and cattle, who was a child of Tapio and Mielikki.
Overview[]
He is one of the more obscure gods in Finnish mythology as he is mentioned briefly in legendary tales. He is mentioned few times in the Kalevala, and like most pagan deities, was demonised by Christianity when it arrived in Finland. Nyyrikki's status is currently unknown although it has been implied that he still roams his domain and embodying his role as a god of the hunt and cattle, providing good fortune towards farmers by blessing them with healthy cattle with the farmers in turn praying to Nyyrikki for a good hunt.
Despite his demonization by medieval Christians, to the point where he was strongly associated with Nimrod the first biblical king, Nyyrikki was also compared to legendary Saint George who was more of a benevolent figure. In fact, Nyyrikki has been alluded to a few times by some of the agents of the Nightstalkers, the ones that are more in depth with the supernatural, especially since this branch of the FBI was created in honor of Saint George himself as he is also believed to be the ancestor of the Hawkins family leading up to Abigail Hawkins herself. If that is the case then this could imply that Abigail has some trace of divinity but this was never proven since the hunting god was only compared to Saint George instead of being one in the same.
