Nyogtha, also known as the Filth, is one of the Ogdru Hem.
Description[]
Nyogtha is an amorphous mass composed of an unidentifiable sticky black substance. It is capable of extruding tentacles from this mass to manipulate the environment around it.
Overview[]
Nyogtha is described as a living disease or a Lovecraftian black plague. It seeps into an area and infects it, affecting land, minerals and lifeforms. It is revealed that Nyogtha was the cause behind the extinction of the Martian race and likely the Mollusc's insurmountable dread at the thought of the Great Old Ones returning to reclaim the universe.
The Old One would not surace for many years after the Martian invasion until far into the future where it pulsated a transmission that was detected by NASA which was then flagged to the Federal Bureau of Control. The FBC immediately concluded that the discovery was too sensitive for public knowledge and moved to keep it hidden. The organization began construction of Invictus, a state-of-the-art Mars research outpost designed to identify the true nature of the message.
In truth, Nyogtha sent this message as a means of luring any human foolish enough to intercept it in order to use their mortal bodies as hosts before making its way towards Earth.
