The Nightstalkers, also known as the Unnatural Analysis Unit (UAU), are a secretive and highly classified department of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Overview[]

They are devoted to hunting and eliminating supernatural beings that threaten the safety of the United States of America along with its citizens. The department which is headed and operated out of Manhattan, New York is known by other organizations and government officials to have been in operation for over a century and a half, meaning that it is a rather new and young group compared to other paragons.

Description[]

Much like other paramilitary gatherings, the Nightstalkers are also known for deploying their own set of supernatural creatures to combat those that threaten the citizens of New York. While it is unknown how many monstrous soldiers they can deploy, there are currently two paranormal agents under the employment of the department: Derous a dragon, and Curtis Kilgrave who is a ghost. They are said to have over 36,074 human employees.

Although they too possess a large amount of foot soldiers which are members of the branch, while also under the operation of the FBI agency. Their resources are also highly impressive, to where they possess state of the art technology capable of tracking and pinpointing any supernatural activity occurring in the city, and weaponry that is specifically designed to destroy certain paranormal threats; which includes holy water, white oak, crosses, incendiary bullets, and much more. They are also known to specialize in the teachings of the occult, and even wield an assortment of magical items that can help banish or destroy certain supernatural beings. Their sources also range from other intelligence gatherings that can stretch out beyond New York, basically either from New Jersey or states close to it.

History[]

Background[]

The origins regarding the foundation of the Nightstalkers is unknown although the modern incarnation was officially formed during the Cold War. However, it is suggested that similarly to the Hellsing Organization and the Order of the Silver Cross, the director of such groups inherits the organization from their ancestral predecessors. A technical offshoot of the Nightstalkers occurred during the time of Saint George where the tale of Saint George and the dragon followed the same path but with an alternative outcome.

Instead of slaying the dragon, Saint George spared the beast on the condition that it swears allegiance to him to which the dragon accepts. The dragon itself is revealed to be none other than Derous himself who is the current agent of the Nightstalkers, this would also imply that Abigail Hawkins and her predecessors are the direct descendants of Saint George's lineage which would explain why Derous joined the Nightstalkers in the first place.

Finding the Dragon[]

In the modern age, the current incarnation of the Nightstalkers came into formation sometime during the Cold War when the UMA Finders Club, an unofficial division of the CIA dedicated to cryptozoology, were absorbed into the FBI. The UMA Finders Club were tasked to locate the fabled forest of Brocéliande where a "great power" rests and awaits to be risen by "one who carries the blood of a saintly knight". At the time, the agents who were leading this search was a man known as Francis Hawkins, and a woman named Jessica Palmer. Their main goal upon finding this power was to use it against the Charon Corps, a military unit part of Wardenclyffe tasked with investigating the world known as Dite and the malicious yet profitable properties it carries, among of which is the Dread Dust; an airborne viral particle encountered in Dite.

Hawkins and Palmer would finally stumbleupon Brocéliande in Brittany which was only possible via the ring that Francis Hawkins carried as a family heirloom, later revealed to be an enchanted stone crafted by Merlin himself to have the descendants of Saint George locate Derous in Brocéliande and can only function by one who carries the blood of Saint George. As they moved deep into underground caverns of the forest, they discover the gargantuan body of Derous who was in a deep state of dormancy. He would only be awakened when Francis' blood would be spilled on him, prompting the mighty dragon to emerge from the underground in all his terrible glory. Derous, in a state of delirium, nearly killed the two but stopped himself when he sniffed Francis Hawkins and realized that he was the descendant of Saint George thus his current master and the "one who carries the blood of a saintly knight".

Dread Dust[]

Derous would be used by Francis Hawkins to fight against the Charon Corps use of the Dread Dust to turn humans into Dust Wanderers. The trio, consisting of Derous, Francis Hawkins, Jessica Palmer used their combined knowledge and might, to thwart a good amount of the Dust horde. Derous took the fight to the Lord of Dust while Francis and Jessica fought against Sim, a rogue Charon Corps member who became a powerful sentient Dust Wanderer and Chloe Dubois, leader of the Charon Corps.

Their crippling of the Dread Dust's mightiest allowed the military to wipe out the remainders with success. They were later approached by J. Edgar Hoover, who tasked them with joining the FBI to aid them in the fight against these creatures. They agreed, and thus the Nightstalker branch was born, with the agency maintaining strong links to various branches of the United States Armed Forces to this day.
