A Nexus of Abandoned Places, or simply the Nexus, is a phenomena which occurs in man-made structures that have been abandoned for a long time.
Description[]
These Nexus points allow anyone to travel to these forgotten locations via the Infinite Corridor. Once a Nexus is used, the effects will cease and all portals vanish. No one knows how long it takes for an abandoned structure to become a Nexus, only that most the locations that become a nexus are so ancient that even their names have been forgotten.
This phenomena can lead to the discovery of places that no human would normally locate, however, it appears to have its limits as it cannot lead to the location of far grander places that lay beyond the cosmos for such places transcend the synchronicity of the Nexus Points. This is likely due to the phenomena only acting as residual energies left behind as effects of the Convergence.
Overview[]
These places become momentarily linked by portals which will appear in doorways throughout the abandoned structure, leading to other abandoned structures throughout the realms. The Nexus points are said to be used by the Wandsmen, extra-dimensional travelers and scholars, in order to gain information regarding the history and purpose of a location. While the Nexus can be randomized whenever it is used by individuals whose physiologies are not cross-dimensional, it is effortless for the Wandsmen. Tindalos is often described as the "backroom" that lay behind the veils of the nexus points whereas the points are curved the Backrooms are linear.
According to the Wandsmen, the Nexus points are a result of the residual extra-dimensional energies left behind by the Convergence, meaning that where the Convergence is the result of the Tree of Life's roots being misaligned thus creating spatial extrusions, the Nexus points are the "table scraps" of the Convergence when it passes. These points appear to be drawn to architecture once belonging to ancient civilizations with scientists from the Federal Bureau of Control believing that the material used to create the architectures have unique properties which harness the temporal powers of the Convergence, much like how Nimrod used said properties to create the Tower of Babel in order to breach Heaven.
