The Muramasa Blade. (Dormant and Awakened)
The Muramasa Blade is a powerful sword wielded by Jakob Salvatore of the Salvatore Brothers. It is noted to be among the sharpest blades on Earth, believed to be capable of even rivaling the likes of the fabled Yamato, Vergil's own demonic blade. It once belonged to an ancestor of the Salvatores.
Overview[]
According to Jakob Salvatore, the Muramasa Blade was forged by using a piece of a werewolf's soul. The werewolf in question was an ancestor of the Salvatore family, who commissioned a dishonored blacksmith in Japan to forge a blade strong enough to fight back against the threat of the Persians. The blacksmith crafted the blade and with the aid of a powerful witch, forged the sword from his own soul.
Because of the properties and components needed to create the blade, it both blesses and curses those who wield it with incredible power, power stemming to incredible might and physical resilience to injury. The longer one withholds the mystic steel, the greater its murderous influence becomes over the host which is all the more fitting since Jakob is noteworthy for being the most volatile of the Salvatores. In addition, it serves as a substitute for the Munin Howl since Jakob and his brother Dominic are too violent to properly utilize the awesome power of the Munin Howl.
Capabilities[]
The sword is also made of an unknown alloy that is bright red in color which is said to be the soul of the sword's original wielder burning hot with vengeance and hatred. When dormant, it takes on the appearance of regular steel but when awakened it becomes a blood-red coloration with the temperline being jagged. The blade is also extremely durable and is capable of cutting almost any substance. The blade has easily cut through the seemingly indestructible skin of Fleurety which is certainly impressive as a demon's skin is stronger than steel or armor but in Fleurety's case its durability was greater than a diamond's. However, despite its mystical properties and extreme cutting power, it could not pierce Lucifer's own skin.
