Moonblade
The Moonblade is a powerful mystical sword that can not only store souls but also harm them.
Description[]
The Moonblade is a sword that is capable of changing shape depending on the phases of the moon; longsword during a full moon, and a dagger during a new moon. On the flat surface of the blade show the various lunar phases of the moon which glow in accordance to the real-time lunar cycle.
Capabilities[]
The Moonblade is said to have been "carved from the abyssal beach" which is a realm located between that of the dead and the living. Similarly to the Twin Blade, the Moonblade can kill anyone with one clean hit, only difference being is that it has their spirits stored in it.
Because of the Moonblade's function and its origins, it is extremely dangerous when it comes into contact with antimatter, something Grigori Rasputin exploited in large part to Randall Flagg when in possession of his daughter Varvara Rasputin. This occurred in the climax of the Blackest Night event when Varvara stabbed herself with the Moonblade as she was a conduit for the Shakti thereby becoming a Black Flame triggering what is dubbed as a voidout, an explosive annihilation event that wiped New York off the face of the map. This voidout also disrupted the veil of the natural order to where it emitted a pulse that woke the Ogdru Hem.
While the exact nature of this process is unknown, Dr. Hartmann believes that this is a case of matter and antimatter colliding, or in supernatural terms Vril and Shakti clashing in their ever eternal struggle for the fate of creation. Moreover, the size of the voidout is dependant on the amount of matter, in this case souls, is present which for the Moonblade was numerous.
