Miskatonic University is a university located in Arkham, a town in Essex County, Massachusetts. The university notably contains quite the lore about occult knowledge.
Description[]
Miskatonic University is rightfully described as being a highly prestigious university, on par with Harvard University as it hosts some of the best and brightest of pupils, including Herbert West. However, it also attracts attention from people who serve the Old Ones and other Eldritch entities such as Grigori Rasputin, due to the Necronomicon being present within.
The amount of knowledge about hostile beings such as the Ogdru Hem and other eldritch abominations from the stars or beneath the Earth, led to Professor Trevor Bruttenholm to later found the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense from the ruins of the British Paranormal Society. After Rasputin's destruction in the wake of World War II, the Necronomicon was confined by the B.P.R.D. instead of leaving it with the University.
