You're right. I was alone. For the longest time. And I liked it. I relished in the freedom, which is why I forsook my position as elder. To feel the wind hitting your face. The spraying of the sea. To fight with every ounce of your spirit, fang, and claw. The light of the moon resonating with my soul. But the more I was into it...the more lonely I began to feel. I wanted someone to be by my side, to experience this freedom. To cherish it as I do. And when that happened, I never wanted to be alone afterwards. Because I wouldn't be here without my pack.
~ Miguel

Miguel, also known as Magnar, is the current leader of the wolf pack of the Order of the Silver Cross and the organization's most powerful agent. He was formerly an elder and the Fierce Wolf of the West.

Appearance[]

Miguel is a tall werewolf with a large build. He has tanned skin, amber colored eyes with a long scar over his left eye, fangs when he is angry, and long tousled dark brown hair. He wears black leather trousers with a small side chain, black shoes with red soles, and with what looks to be a Mjölnir pendant underneath. He normally wears a billowing black duster, with a black clipped vest and black fingerless gloves.

Miguel is revealed to have a large tattoo of the Fenris wolf that covers his entire back and extends down his arms. In his casual attire, Miguel's belt buckle also portrays a wolf. His dark brown tousled hair was originally cut short but overtime he let it grow, shaved his sides, and sported a jaw beard. Miguel's wolf form consists of a massive and powerfully built wolf that stood roughly ten feet tall, with a long lupine snout, bright amber eyes, long pointed ears, two inch fangs, and jet black fur.

History[]

Background[]

Miguel, then named Magnar, was born two thousand years ago, though his parents died when he was just a pup and was burdened with the responsibility of assuming his future role as elder of the Ragnar Tribe which certainly raised brows since Miguel was considered the 'youngest' of the elders. Even at a young age, Miguel had enormous potential, impressing many veteran werewolves and even the mightiest of them as well. When he came of age, Miguel would undergo the most difficult task of all; taming the spirit totem of his sword, Fenrir. Miguel explained that while he has engaged in many of the toughest battles throughout history, none were as difficult as taming Fenrir in order for his soul and the spirit to resonate with one another in harmony and balance. The process was said to have taken around half a year all while being confined and in a coma in his Caern.

Miguel at last was able to tame the spirit of the great wolf and rightfully claimed the title of elder after the passing of his father. His activities during his time as elder was unknown though what is known is that he developed a rivalry with Lucian Salvatore of the Salvatore Family, as Lucian would challenge him for the right to claim the title of tribe father with Miguel winning said challenges each time. Miguel would later relinquish his position as elder of the Ragnar Tribe as he was not accustomed to remaining in one spot for the rest of his days to oversee the development of lycanthrope society much to the shock of the lycans and other elders. Despite this choice, the elders respected his wishes as Miguel traveled across the world.

Miguel, back then at least, was described as a "wild child" as he would get into many altercations with other therianthropes and monsters. He eventually began undertaking tasks from human monarchs, in regards to dealing with a threat which requires more than simple manpower, and for the sake of a hefty payment as a hobby. He and a band of lycans, known as Ulfheðnar (wolf warriors), were once hired by the Roman Emperor Trajan to deal with the Berserkers that were massacring his forces during his conquest of Dacia from 101–106 AD. A task which proved quite challenging even for the alpha wolf as these Werebears were truly a force to be reckoned with.

Middle Ages[]

Around the 1700s or so, he found himself being smitten by the daughter of an English nobleman, named Ariana Devon, as he was employed by said lord to deal with vampiric threats. Miguel, of course, did not reciprocate the feelings since she was human and was not fond of humans in the slightest. Moreover, he was aware of how the romance between a werewolf and a human would play out if the tale of Voula and Philemon was of any indication. However, as time passed, something about Ariana would draw him closer to her more than he would have liked to admit.

Eventually, Miguel was unable to fight back against these burning feelings and confessed his love for her, which she gladly returned. They would then frequently meet up in secret each time, but it was beginning to grow more dangerous, especially given the paranoia that led to the Salem Witch Trials, and to lay with a werewolf would result in condemning them to death and branded as a witch. Eventually, however, the town discovered their secret communions. The nobleman and the villagers took Ariana, condemned her for being a witch as she had laid with a beast (werewolves were considered creations or spawns of the Devil), and burned her at the stake. Miguel was forced to watch the horrific event as the villagers drove silver stakes in his hands to the ground while subduing him with rope drenched in water that was coated in crushed silver powder.

When Ariana burned to ashes, Miguel was driven to an animalistic rage, with Fenrir's spirit overtaking him after he had also discovered from Ariana that she was pregnant with his child, and escaped his bonds. He slaughtered the townspeople without mercy before burning it down to the ground. Miguel himself stated that he rampaged through the wilderness for a while, draining rivers, upturning trees, and leaving "desolation and fire in his wake". He mustered enough willpower to find a secluded area to repress Fenrir's insatiable appetite for hunger and destruction. But afterward, he would declare war on humanity.

Wolf Plague of Europe[]

Miguel would amass an army of wolves as he traversed across Europe, spreading the lycanthrope affliction with vengeful fury and hatred, a shell of his former self. More alarmingly, the spirit of Fenrir would only feed from his violent and wrathful emotions, slowly causing his mind to deteriorate the longer this endures. Miguel would make an offering to those he crossed paths with: either join the ranks of the werewolves or perish. Of course, Miguel's crusade was not without its resistance, and in his case it was from two factions, that being vampires and humans. The vampires were not only gathering to fight against the slow spread of the lycanthrope plague but also suppressing it enough for them properly organize and prepare for the resurrection of Absalom. The human faction consisted of the modernized Knights of the Round Table and the Order of the Silver Cross, however the latter was defunct due to the machinations of the Scarlet Brood and the Knights of the Round Table were all but killed by either the werewolves or the vampires.

In the 1800s, Miguel and his wolves invaded London while also dealing with an anti governmental insurgency against the United India Company. When news traveled of three individuals that were successfully repelling the vampires he paid it no mind. However, they had his attention when they also managed to kill several of his packmates. Miguel had his wolves hunt down the individuals, who were Vitali Romanov, Abraham Van Helsing, and Johanna Constantine. Later, Miguel discovered they were alive as his lieutenant, Lunarke, spared them since Vitali saved her life and the life of her fellow pack mates. When Lunarke led Vitali and the others to their hideout, Miguel ignored Lunarke's attempts to convince him that they can help them as Miguel only believes that they will stab them in the back first chance they get. Vitali also stepped up in an attempt to have Miguel's army aid them but again, Miguel was vehemently against the idea of allying himself with humans despite Vitali's pleas that they cannot defeat the Company and the Brood individually. Thus, Vitali resorted to negotiations via single combat where should he defeat Miguel then the latter will agree to his terms and help him. Much to the alpha wolf's surprise, he was slowly being bested by the last Romanov as he greatly underestimated him and was eventually defeated by him despite his tactics and superior physical attributes; it is believed that Vitali implemented the slaying methods of the Witchers and the tools once wielded by the Belmont Clan to gain advantage.

Defeated and humiliated, Vitali, instead of ending his life, spared the alpha wolf with Miguel now agreeing to Vitali's terms of cooperation in taking down the vampire coven and the Company. Miguel would engage against one of the Scarlet Brood's generals within Nikola Tesla's laboratory Westminster, and the general was none other than the legendary Judas Iscariot. The two engaged in a fierce battle throughout the laboratory, with Judas proving to be quite the formidable opponent given his heritage as the first traditional vampire especially after being sired by Hector. Despite the ferocity of his attacks, Judas was overwhelmed by Miguel's monstrous power and was consequently defeated with Miguel beheading him with his sword.

Agent of the Silver Cross[]

After the defeat of the Company and the Scarlet Brood, the once rogue Miguel took Vitali's offer of working for his Order through a pact of blood. And so the Order of the Silver Cross was restored and fully established. Vitali also permitted the surviving werewolves that joined Vitali with Miguel into taking down the two malicious groups to run free on the condition that they do not cause any further harm to the humans to which they agreed. Over the span of 300 years Miguel was the Order's greatest weapon as they cemented their legacy in history, whilst being completely unknown to the public barring the Russian government and other secret organizations. All the while Miguel would meet other werewolves and have them grow into his new pack whom also became by proxy agents of the Silver Cross.

Personality[]

Miguel is a calm, stoic, and fearless lycan, having been born and raised from a pack of pure blooded Werewolves that are one of the oldest in the species and thus making Miguel a pure blood. While he is a powerful werewolf, Miguel does tend to be alone from the rest of his kind. And he feels as though he is isolated and lonely, being shunned by his species, which in truth, is how he likes it since he is not really a social type. In the beginning, however, Miguel was much different than his current persona as he was violent, ruthless, ambitious, and arrogant, likely due to being the Fierce Wolf of the West and the totemic wielder of Fenrir himself.

His isolation from others would often have him be distant from his own pack mates though this was in the past as now he is quite close with all of them. Like almost all werewolves, Miguel had a low opinion of humans and in no way does he wish to associate with them. Regardless, he does find them to be useful, in this case their payment methods for having to be rid of a troublesome "unnatural" obstacle. His disdain towards humans would only evolve into hatred especially after they would kill one of their own for loving one such as he. In the beginning Miguel was hesitant to lay with a human woman as he knew it would only spell tragedy for both sides as is the case with Voula and Philemon, but he relented as he was unable to quell his own feelings for Ariana. Unfortunately, tragedy had indeed come to pass with her unjustly murder at the hands of her own father and townspeople. Ariana's death radically changed Miguel. He became cold, aggressive, distant, but most of all depressed. His hatred towards humanity was so great he almost appeared that he cared not for the costs on both sides as long as they were all strewn about like meat for his pack.

After his defeat at the hands of Vitali, Miguel's worldview changed and slowly the longer he worked for the Order of the Silver Cross. While he could never move on from Ariana's death, even after hundreds of years, he was no longer the same violent and despondent werewolf all would come to know him as before. Miguel was not all that talkative but is a good conversationalist. He at times kept to himself. He tends to be quiet since his thoughts could somehow cause a disturbance among others, and does not wish to incite conflict from others because of his opinions. Despite this, Miguel is close with his pack mates and they themselves revere and look up to Miguel as a fatherly figure, and to some an elderly brother-like figure. After meeting Beth, Miguel was more open and almost lively even, something which surprised his pack mates. He is a skilled strategist and tactician, never failing to disappoint his pack. Even though he isn't as hostile towards humans as he was before joining the Silver Cross, he despises humans that are arrogant and prideful.

Miguel loves a good fight and becomes very ecstatic when facing a worthy opponent and one that can truly push him. His stoic and cocky visage cracks, becoming more primal and relishing the euphoria of combat as it was seen with Vergil who was the first opponent in over a hundred or so years to have truly pushed him. He was also somewhat cocky and arrogant during battle but is also vicious and barbaric pertaining to wielding the totemic spirit of Fenrir. In fact, the reason behind Miguel's solitary nature is due to him suppressing the bloodthirsty and violent urges instigated and nurtured by Fenrir's spirit especially when wielding Fenrir through his sword. Raze, the beta wolf, explains that Miguel would undergo extreme levels of spiritual meditation, concentrating to such degrees in order to prevent Fenrir from overtaking him and potentially destroying his body. During the climax of the Apocalypse, Miguel would finally utilize Fenrir without any drawbacks as he found peace within himself after moving on from Ariana and pushing aside his hatred for humanity, using the full power and might of the Wolf of Destruction against the Antichrist.

Powers and Abilities[]

Miguel is often cited by his packmates and his own master to be one of the most massively powerful werewolves on Earth. As a former elder and the totemic user of the Fenris wolf, Miguel is said to wield "unthinkable" spiritual power. Throughout his two thousand years of living on the planet, Miguel slayed the most ferocious monsters, contended with the greatest of werebeasts, and competed against the mightiest of werewolves with him even managing to defeat said mighty lycanthropes. His power and strength is also acknowledged by his fellow elders to the point where Ivan Romanov believed that he is roughly comparable to Caspian himself who is the most powerful werewolf on Earth and Luca at one point states that he is the most powerful werewolf they have ever known though at the time they did not know of Caspian.

Like all werewolves, Miguel possess enormous superhuman strength, speed, agility, and endurance but heightened to degrees greater than ordinary werewolves in regards to him being both an elder and an alpha. Miguel's strength allows him to contend with all but the strongest opponents such as him being able to match Vergil blow for blow when the son of Sparda wielded the Beowulf gauntlets and created small shock waves with each collision of their strikes that cracked the ground and walls around them. He was also able to stop an oncoming blow from Incognito and was even able to shoulder flip Absalom when he was in a gigantic eldritch form, using the momentum of the Blood God's fall to slam him to the ground. His speed is said to be almost "unnatural", as quoted by Incognito, even amongst other werewolves. He could move so fast that he appears as a blur and can even leave faint afterimages behind him. More impressively is him also managing to keep up with Vergil during their first bout, moving with such incomprehensible speeds that they leave afterimages of themselves colliding. Miguel can also strike his opponent so fast they do not realize they have been slain until he sheathed his blade. Miguel is also incredibly durable as he could survive devastating attacks and blows that would incapacitate or even kill lesser werewolves. His healing factor also has a large contribution to this as he is capable of healing from near fatal wounds at an accelerated rate.

Miguel is a master combatant and swordsman having over two thousand years worth of combat experience. His swordsmanship is acknowledged and praised by many with even Vergil being impressed by his swordplay and Adan saying that he never ceases to amaze him and his packmates with his use of the sword. As he wields a black katana and incorporates a fighting style similar to Iaijutsu which involves quick, precise draws from the sheathe, striking the opponent, and removing blood from the sword before resheathing. His Iaijutsu is made more powerful and dangerous by incorporating his own powers and physical prowess, making him an extremely formidable opponent to even the most skilled combatants. He is able to match swordsmen like Vergil, Lucian Salvatore, Nobunaga, Murmur, and even the horseman Famine. Even without the use of his sword, Miguel remains to be dangerously skilled in hand-to-hand combat as he demonstrated during his battle with Judas Iscariot and Incognito, both of whom are immensely powerful vampires in their own right. Miguel possesses extraordinary dexterity and coordination, surpassing most other werewolves. Miguel is not only able to fight and overpower numerous opponents at once, but he is also able to carefully read his opponents' moves, allowing him to counterattack with efficiency. He is also extremely proficient with guns, with his favored weapons being twin Desert Eagles and can fire at targets with incredibly accuracy.

Miguel's greatest power is the Munin Howl, where he is able to channel the collective might of his ancestors into his physical form. That includes their rage, aggression, hatred, memories, and experience, concentrating it to such a degree as to enhance his speed, strength, reflexes, endurance and spiritual energies to unprecedented levels. Its power is such that it can only be harnessed by the most talented generations and for an elder such as him, it is far more powerful in comparison to other wolves who can use it. When using the Munin Howl, Miguel is enveloped in a bright golden aura that later expands into the form of a massive spectral wolf spirit, which in Miguel's case is Fenrir himself. The Munin Howl gives Miguel access to his latent abilities, as well as the power granted to him by Fenrir, where he is can perform energy based attacks that are devastating to even the likes of Absalom. He can manipulate the golden spiritual energy of his Munin Howl in a variety of ways and can even channel it into his physical attacks such as his sword strikes and claw swipes. His Munin Howl state had Vergil on the defensive and when the latter accessed his Devil Trigger, Miguel was able to match the son of Sparda regardless.

Aside from the Munin Howl, Miguel can assume his wolf state like all werewolves, appearing as a massive and powerfully built wolf with jet black fur. When transformed, Miguel's strength, speed, and endurance are greatly enhanced but not unlike the Munin Howl. He begins to fight with increased ferocity to the point where he proved to be quite the challenge for even Vergil. Miguel could shift parts of his party into his lycanthrope state, such as when he shifted his arm into the larger and stronger version of his wolf arm complete with the fur to inflict devastating damage upon Incognito. Miguel is also able to take the Munin Howl a step further, utilizing the technique to its highest degree. By offering his blood to Fenrir within the sword, his soul resonates with Fenrir's spirit, and afterwards the golden colored aura becomes a burning fiery red, and the wolf specter of Fenrir grows to titanic levels with Miguel hovering in the center of the spectral avatar of his blade. In this phase, Miguel is able to contend with and at times even push back the Antichrist himself alongside his fellow elders Voula, Mehmet, and Caspian.
