The Midnight Suns, formerly known as The Eclipse, are a loose alliance of individuals that have knowledge of the supernatural and use said knowledge to combat malignant supernatural threats.
Description[]
Each member of the Midnight Suns is said to be branded by the House of Mysteries which is the headquarters of John Constantine then later the group itself. The "Brand" of the Midnight Sons is an eclipse with a sharp spike pointing upward. The purpose of the brand is to summon its wearers back together in times of great need, and is said to "hurt like the Devil himself" until the summons is answered.
The brand otherwise remains invisible until it is needed. Moreover, as per the rules of the House of Mysteries, those who enter the House are under John's power as the master of the house and could summon anyone that entered the House of Mysteries inside the latter at any given time.
Overview[]
The Midnight Suns first came together under the calling of John Constantine when the Laughing Magician first realized the scope and magnitude of the threat that is on the horizon. The threat itself was the Brujería, whose meddling with the ancient dark arts in order to release the Rising Darkness garnered the attention of not only those that would soon become part of the Midnight Suns but also other threats that have surfaced upon sensing this disturbance only to end up fighting the individual members of the Midnight Suns.
The disparate warriors were not formally grouped at the time, and some of their number were even hostile to certain others, only working together out of a need to deal with the more imminent threat posed by the Brujería. Unlike the Dark Knight Initiative, they are a relatively small group and are not exactly a "team" per say but more of an alliance of associates in John's words given that that he is not a team player despite him helping the Initiative stop Lucifer bring about his apocalyptic dream of a New World Order.
Despite this, Constantine still, albeit reluctantly and under pressure from Nico, named themselves collectively as the Nine after sending most of them away in the aftermath of the battle against the Brujería. However, Nico was not exactly satisfied by the naming of their alliance and instead settled with the name "Midnight Suns" much Nero's chagrin.
