Mekhet emerges from its crypt
Mekhet, also known as the Eldest, is an ancient vampiric beast said to be the first of the Turok-Han to ever exist. It is an eldritch vampire of unimaginable horror that is destined to bring about the end of the vampire world.
Overview[]
Mekhet was not only the first of the Turok-Han to ever be sired by Lilith but the first vampiric beast to embraced by Sarkicism and thus was technically the first user of the Demiurgic power over flesh. It is worshipped and revered by the Tzimisce, a Proto-Sarkic cult comprised of vampires who embraced Sarkicism mainly as a means to transcend the limitations of their vampiric state.
Moreover, Mekhet was dubbed as the "Seed of Evil" meaning it is quite literally the seed of which the Dracaena grew out from after being nourished by the amount of blood and evil committed throughout the world. It will play a major role in the fabled apocalyptic event known as the Blackest Night where it is only referred to as the Dragon which will bring about the extinction of vampires.
History[]
Background[]
Mekhet, then known as the Eldest, was the first unholy beast to roam and terrorize the Earth. Like its descendants, the Turok-Han, it was created by Lilith as a means to mock the beauty of God's creatures while also warping the cycle of nature itself. From Mekhet came the rest of the Turok-Han courtesy of a mate that was made for it to breed with and thus began their reign of terror across the Antediluvian Earth and their rampage was recorded on ancient pottery in Mesopotamia.
At some point in time, Irad the son of Enoch and ruler of the first city of Uruk, managed to capture and contain the monstrous vampire. Despite their best efforts, they were unable to destroy Mekhet until Irad approached one of his personal vizars and sorcerer at the time Iūn who was dabbling in the art of flesh-bending which would later be known as Sarkicism. Irad's desire to purge the growing malignance from within him and his descendants in order to sever his lineage from Cain played a part in Mekhet's transformation. Iūn proposed that through the manipulation of the flesh, he could purge all the evil from within him and have it be consumed by Mekhet while hopefully destroying both in the process.
Irad accepted this and under the guidance of Iūn, Irad distilled his malevolence into a vile manifestation which was then forcefully fed to Mekhet. However, much to the surprise of the attendants, Mekhet was unchanged albeit immobile, and drawing the attention of Iūn, Mekhet suddenly attacked the sorcerer and attempted to drain his blood until it was repelled by Irad. The Eldest managed to escape from the first city, it was no longer a mere vampire, but now an entity of boundless metamorphosis devoid of gender or any concrete form.
Blackest Night[]
Mekhet consecutively fed and consumed any living entity it could find in a desperate bid to find a suitable shape and thus free itself from its curse all while siring offspring that differed from the Turok-Han; said offspring would go on to become the Tzimisce. It was not until it was sought out by Lilith herself, who was quite intrigued by her child's current predicament, that Mekhet found damnation instead of salvation.
Lilith would come to use Mekhet as a substitute for becoming the Dracaena's vessel, mainly after Humbaba was killed by Gilgamesh. She was able to temporarily hold off its ever-changing form by having Mekhet consume one of the Dragon Blood Trees which is said to contain a million's worth of blood and souls it accumulated from the damned in Hell. This gave Lilith the opportunity to use her magic to force the placid Mekhet into a deep torpor before sealing it in a crypt beneath where the modern day New York City would be located.
According to legends as well as rumors, Mekhet is undergoing a horrifying metamorphosis where extensions of itself spread throughout every facet of the city like roots or vines, dormant but active, growing ever stronger as it calls forth to its children to consume them. Mekhet will play a major role in the Blackest Night where it will finally awaken after being fed untold amounts blood from Theokoles's rampage also courtesy of Lilith and her clients the Black Hand. Once it has emerged, Mekhet would act as a vessel for the Dracaena which would sprout from its body and spread throughout every corner and crevice of the island, upheaving and overturning massive sections of the island now completely overtaken by the demons who claimed it as their new kingdom of Pandemonium on Earth.
