Black Marker
The Marker, also known as the Charnel Marker or the Black Marker, is an eldritch double-helix shaped obelisk of extraterrestrial origin. The purpose of these objects is to create Necromorphs and finally, through a Convergence event, project Mordiggian's power and shadow over the planet.
Description[]
Two types of Markers are known to exist: Black Markers and Red Markers. There is only one Black Marker left in existence as the others were destroyed by the gods with the last one used to imprison Mordiggian in his own construct. Red Markers are artificial copies of Black Markers, created by intelligent civilizations, that produce miniature Black Markers in the hopes of jettisoning them into space to reach other life-bearing planets.
Overview[]
The Black Markers are towering obelisks produced by the Charnel God, Mordiggian, where he would then send them unto a planet which would be discovered by sapient life. Through these Black Markers, Mordiggian telepathically influences the species who found them, compelling them to worship it or attempt to harness it as a source of infinite power. Over time, this influence would incite insanity within the infected, driving them to kill each other or themselves.
Once all, or at least the vast majority, of a population has been converted into Necromorphs, they will return to the Black Marker and trigger a convergence event using the surrounding Red Markers. The Red Markers will convert the biology of the Necromorph into photon particles that will use them to charge the Black Marker then propel them unto a reflective surface of a celestial satellite. Afterward, the satellite will reflect the beam backward unto the planet that transmutes the entire planet into a desolate necromorphic wasteland for Mordiggian to rule over.
The Black Marker begins to pull in every single Necromorph and dead creature into the sky and stratosphere along with fragments of the planet. The Black Marker then starts to rotate and levitate, joining them and merging the necrotic flesh and the rocky fragments, only to shatter and unleash Mordiggian himself in all his glory. Mordiggian then feeds off the remaining life on the planet, before traveling to other worlds the Markers have affected where he continues to feed.
