Locust of Abaddon

A locust of Abaddon.

The Locusts of Abaddon (simply referred to as locusts in the Book of Revelations) are an army of demonic anthropomorphic locust-like creatures from the pits of Hell that serve Abaddon. They are the steeds of the demonic Euphrates Army.

Overview[]

The locusts are said to play a major role in the Apocalypse where they will be freed by Abaddon from the bottomless pits to torment the remaining sinners on Earth. They are prohibited from killing any living creature by God once they have given the Seam of Lord, but they will torment the impure for five months, and the torture will be so horrible that mankind will try to kill themselves but "death will avoid them."

A breed of locusts can also be spawned by the Beast of the Sea through fission as smaller replicas of the entity but with various shapes and sizes, notable of which is a Chimera, broadly falling into a handful of distinct types. While most of these types are bipedal and humanoid, some take on a more bestial, quadrupedal form, and many have appendages that resemble weapons. Their sizes vary greatly, ranging from about the height of an adult human up to the that of a behemoth that can stand roughly the same height as Derous in his dragon form.

Description[]

These demonic locusts are described as "horse-like creatures prepared for battle, adorned with crowns of gold above their heads. Their faces are like of a man, with a woman's hair and a lion's teeth. Their body was locust-like, covered with iron breast-places. They have the stings of scorpions and claws, and the sound of their army will be like of a million horses marching to the battlefield".

A modern interpretation of the Locusts of Abaddon is that John supposedly had a vision of the Helicopters of the current world, due to their "body was locust-like, covered with iron breast-places", which would be the bodywork of the helicopter, while its "woman's hair" would be a description of its propellers, with the "stings of scorpions and claws" being the rotor of a helicopter, and finally, the "sound of their army will be like of a million horses" referring to the powerful noise caused by war helicopters. However, there are still descriptions with no coherent interpretation, such as the "crowns of gold", "faces are like of a man" and "a lion's teeth".
