The Lance of Longinus, also known as Spear of Longinus, True Longinus, Holy Lance, Spear of Destiny, or simply Longinus, is a powerful holy relic and weapon, which was created when a lancer was used to pierce the side of Jesus Christ in order to prove that he is dead while crucified.
Overview[]
It is said that a blind centurion named Longinus saw he was already dead while the Roman soldiers could not, and proved it to his fellows by using his lance to pierce the Christ's side. Blood and water poured out. There was no need to break his bones.
When the lance strike the body, Jesus' blood had soaked the weapon and Longinus which made them both holy. The centurion no longer blind (who later had became a Saint and worship God from his new sight) and the lance had become a holy God-slayer weapon.
As a result the spear itself became a religious relic. The piercing was seen as proof of his death and his subsequent resurrection. It is said that the Lance of Longinus was unearthed by Helena at the same time and place as the Holy Nails and the True Cross. It was later buried at Antioch to prevent its capture by the Saracens.
Capabilities[]
For being a holy relic, it is said to wield tremendous divine power due to being soaked by the blood of Christ. The spear is one of the holiest objects in existence, and an extremely powerful and effective weapon against demons and beings related to darkness.
While it is unknown what the full power the spear possesses, it is enough to make demons and other God forsaken creatures flee in fear of being cleansed by the holy weapon. Some even believe that whoever holds the spear has more than enough power to control the world.
