Kisatsutai is a joint organization of clans stationed in Japan that has existed since ancient times, dedicating its existence to protecting humanity from Yōkai. There are hundreds of slayers within the organization, however they are not officially recognized by the government.
Overview[]
The Kisatsutai organization was founded by two clans; the Tsugikuni clan and the Ubuyashiki clan. The were under constant threat from various yokai and oni as the demons pillaged and plundered their lands and settlements. Izanagi answered their prayers, taking pity on them and endowed them with his blessing which allowed the two clans to fight back against the demonic horde.
Izanagi directed the patriarchs of the two clans to two mountains; the Sunlight and Moonlight Mountains. The Moonlight Mountain is when the moon passes over its peak and the Sunlight Mountain where the sun rises and its rays illuminate the peak of the mountain itself. From there, they would find a special ore blessed by the gods themselves. The ores were predominantly named the Scarlet Crimson Iron Sand and Scarlet Crimson Ore.
From the use of this ore, they crafted the Nichirin Blades, and using the divine essence of the gods and their spiritual familiars, were able to promptly slay and push back against the Yōkai threat. From then on, the Kisatsutai organization was established, dedicated to fighting the forces of darkness which threaten humanity. As the centuries go by, many clans were formed from the two founding clans as well, each one housing an aspect of nature blessed by one of the gods, culminating in powerful slaying techniques dubbed as "Breathing Styles" along with the forging new Nichirin Swords that are used in conjunction with the wielder's Breathing Style.
