Kate Corrigan
Katherine "Kate" Corrigan is the current liaison to the enhanced superhuman agents of the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense as well as the Dark Knight Initiative, a position she shares with Riza Colton.

Kate Corrigan appears as a middle-aged Caucasian woman with blonde hair in pixie bob undercut and dark blue eyes. She is sometimes seen wearing a light brown sweater with dark jeans and black boots.

Kate Corrigan was born in Oakland, California in 1968. She was the daughter of Jim Corrigan, a hard-boiled NYPD detective who was tragically murdered by a crime boss. She completed her BA with honors at University of California Berkeley in 1990, and her PhD at the University of Bucharest.
Working towards her PhD, she traveled throughout Europe, recording the oral traditions of the villages she visited, which she later compiled into one of the recognized primary texts of occult research. She began her tenure as a professor of history at New York University (specializing in Folklore) in 1983. She has since written sixteen academic books on highly specialized folklore and occult history, including the confessions of Isobel Gowdie during the Salem Witch Trials.
Liaison for the Supernatural[]
Due to her impressive line of work as well as operating as the bureau's liaison for the superhuman agents, she unofficially become something of a consultant for the Dark Knight Initiative, working to keep a stable relationship and environment between the Initiative's superhuman members. She was practically the only member who was universally liked by everyone in the ranks. Kate did not mind being the glue that held her strange family together.
Personality[]
Kate Corrigan is often described as an intelligent and resourceful woman, as well as a skillful and charismatic scientist but always has had trouble turning book-learning into field practice. She has a tendency to lecture, but the information she gives is almost always useful. Since she’s not a very physical person, she’s quite cautious in the field. But her mild curiosity and strong stubbornness may lead her into trouble.
A defining feature of Kate is her compassion and humanity, something that allows her to connect and bond with many supernatural agents, some of which who do not even want to engage in human interactions. This skill was what led Trevor Bruttenholm to make her the B. P. R. D.'s liaison for their enhanced soldiers. Kate is the type who "looks for the human in the monster" which is what to led her to develop close bonds and even a romantic relationship with Ben Daimio who even in his werejaguar form cannot bring himself to harm her.
All in all, she is very capable of developing friendships with many people, among of which is Riza Colton and Hellboy. In fact, many say that Kate is the only human who bears Hellboy's deepest secrets.
