The Demonic Paradise Wiki

Ichor is said to be the ethereal blood of the gods and immortals.

Overview[]

The term was only applied to this divine substance in Greek mythology, mostly during the time when Ares, the greek god of war, was wounded in battle and bled what is described a "fiery substance that moves like water yet is intertwined with mist and fire." Ichor is also attributed to angels, but unlike gods and immortals, they can be distinguishable from the latter.

Description[]

Ichor is usually seen as an ethereal golden substance, however, even though they all share the same compounds and elements they can be vastly different in terms of pigmentation and function. For example, when Zeus was wounded in battle, the ichor that bled from him had a pigmentation to it that is said to be like "light" from a lighting bolt with electrical energy coursing through it. Ichor is sometimes said to retain the qualities of the immortals' food and drink, ambrosia and nectar. Great heroes and demigods occasionally attacked gods and released ichor, but gods rarely did so to each other in Homeric myth.

The function of ichor to the gods is also similar to angels, as the form of the ichor is dependent on what the angel represents. One such example is Lucifer, being an angel light, would bleed "light" from his wounds. Ichor is also shown to be harmful towards mortals and especially demonic entities. This is, according to Gabriel, due to the fact that ichor possesses the very essence and power of what makes a god or immortal live and breathe and it would be the equivalent of holding a "compressed exploding star" in one's hand.
