The Demonic Paradise Wiki

Your pride and your arrogance has always led you to underestimate those who you hold in high contempt. So blinded by your own capabilities that you fail to see the potential they hold. Yes, they are flawed. They steal. They cheat. They destroy. They disappoint. But despite their primitive savagery they are capable of so much more and they've done just that. There is a reason why Father created them in His image. Because they embody His will. To never give up and always move forward. Never underestimate humanity's potential for evolution.
~ Gabriel to Samael

Humans, collectively known as Humanity, or Mortals, are proclaimed by God to be His greatest creations, to which He has given rulership of the Earth, its skies and it's seas; as well as all land animals, birds and fish. Humans were created after the angels, and became the eternal targets of Satan when the fallen angel refused God's command to bow before His newest creation in reverence.

History[]

Origins[]

These humans are my Father's creations. They're works of art. And the Earth was His greatest gift to them yet they cannot comprehend what sort of gift they were given.
~ Uriel

Humans are descended from two primordial branches, the first is called the "Adamic branch" named after the biblical Adam and the second is the "Darwinist branch" which is through natural evolution from primal hominids. The Adamic branch is divine in nature as the humans who descended from Adam, along with first pair of humans that were created by the gods aside from the Abrahamic God, dwelled in the "blissful sky" that being the Edenian Gardens. The Darwinist branch is due to the trans-mutagenic tampering of the genomes within primal hominids by the Elder Things, a race of extraterrestrials that arrived to Earth in some of its early primeval eras. These hominids refer to themselves as the Children of Gaia and dwelled on the Earth long before Adam and Eve's kind set foot upon it.

The archetype of man was named Albion and from his attributes came the first man was named Adam, formed out of the clay, and the first woman was named Eve, forged out of Adam's rib as to be his equal. Although, it was later shown that before Eve came to be, Lilith was Adam's first wife and was created through the usage of the same primordial matter that molded Adam and was thus his equal. Adam and Eve were not the only ones, but other humans were created in their image by the gods of polytheistic religions. These humans resided in their own gardens fashioned by the gods. Originally humans were intended to live within the Garden of Eden, where the most magnificent creatures of God's creation dwelled. In this antediluvian paradise, animals felt no urge to feed on flesh, instead living a vegetarian lifestyle and consuming the richest fruits and vegetables in the garden.

When Adam and Eve betrayed the trust of God, they were banished from the Garden of Eden and had to adapt to a new, hostile environment. After their banishment, they were said to have resided upon the continent of Lemuria during which they served as prey for more deadly creatures, such as the Turok-Han, dinosaurs, and others. Eventually, humans began to develop tools and discover agriculture as well as domesticate animals. At times this occurred naturally, while other times this was done with aid from other deities. They formed something of a tribal settlement within Lemuria and were gathered as one conjoined race despite the difference in their origins of creation. However, up until the murder of Abel by Cain, they separated and formed their own tribes, traversing across the world where they made encampments that later evolved into kingdoms.

Dominance over Earth[]

At an early period of that time, and even before that, they engaged in various conflicts with their "other" biological relatives that being the primal hominids which were said to be the earliest biological ancestors of humans according to Charles Darwin; the most prominent of which were the Sasquatch. The Sasquatch opted to fight back using stealth and darkness in order to ambush the humans and retaliate against them for the right to rule over the Earth, and for several centuries the Sasquatch held the advantage given that humans were only in the thousands and had just recently arrived to Earth. Humans would only see the Sasquatch with revile, as they were created under the working unspeakable hands of horror (that being the Old Ones) while they were created by divine hands through primordial mold and fire. As such the humans exerted their superiority due to their origins while the Sasquatch rebuked with how they advanced naturally and survived without divine or alien intervention.

Using the knowledge they obtained from the angels who pitied them, humans developed weapons to fight with and torches to light the dark, some of which were also stolen from the hominids, and in time developed tools to chop down the trees which provided cover for the Sasquatch tribes. Moreover, the humans also learned of the Sasquatch's activities during the night and hibernative periods during the day and used the day to their advantage to further their growing economy and civilization and all the while they would even begin to build defensive forts that would keep the Sasquatch at bay during their nightly raids though these defenses would also be taken down by the Sasquatch and for the longest time it was a stalemate between two of the dominant species of Earth. However, with the rise of Hyperborea and the evolution of their thinking and resources, the humans triumphed over the hominids, driving them away as their numbers dwindled. It is also said that humans would also come to evolve from the hominid branch, being the biological sect, whilst those from Adam and Eve were the demidivine sect.

Some of them remained in Lemuria, while the rest created their own civilizations, the most prominent of which was Hyperborea. Hyperborea was the Golden Kingdom of the Earth with Adam and Eve's descendants ruling over it for the next 100,000 years; Cain's descendants, called the Cainites, were prohibited from setting foot in their lands and dwelt within the land of Nod, its sole city being Uruk. Their empire was expansive and they had cities all over the world such as Eridu, Thadrethes, Leto, Hypos, and Urrasan. Most of these cities would also come to be the foundation for the polytheistic religions centered around their respective patron gods with the cities themselves being built by the first humans created by the gods and their descendants. Unfortunately, their time of prosperity came to an end, for despite wielding advanced minds, weapons, and knowledge that allowed them to repel the spirits of the Ogdru Hem, they could not overwhelm them for long as seen when Yhoundeh poisoned their wills and minds. Added with the fact that Cain himself was among them, this led to the high king of Hyperborea creating the first weapon of battle in history, the Sword of Hyperborea; a weapon that contained the Secret Fire of God.

B.C.[]

After the destruction of Hyperborea, most of the continent sunk into the ocean, with a splintered region of the kingdom drifting into the sea becoming the legendary lost city of Atlantis, which only sunk several centuries later, and the surviving Hyperboreans that resided there adapted and evolved into the Merfolk. Due to the loss of the Secret Fire, as well as their fall into darkness, humanity regressed into savage primitives but with enough intelligence to become hunter-gatherers and nomads, surviving all the way from the Ice Age to the Stone Age and forward. Hominids resided in a stable climate whilst homosapiens would live in the icy regions of the Earth which was dubbed as the Ice Age. Moreover, the surviving descendants of the Hyperboreans still retained the knowledge they learned from their ancestors on mathematics, engineering, and even astronomy which has led them to build the first civilization that would emerge. They also competed against other tribes, with some of these tribes actually being the evolutionary descendants of the hominids that they once warred with. Regardless, in conjunction with the hominids and these intelligent nomads, they would all continue to build some of the earliest known civilizations only to tragically be buried beneath the ocean waves when a fragment of the comet Wormwood collided with the planet and instantly melted the mountainous icecaps which flooded many civilizations and culminating in the end of the Ice Age.

Several thousand years after the first natural flood, the surviving humans would emerge once again and would seek refuge on other foreign lands. Sympathetic to their plight, God appointed the Grigori to watch over these humans and guide them in their progress, but explicitly expressed that none should interfere with mortals against his will. Although He left the deities to their own devices in helping these humans rebuild civilization. As centuries or millennia went by and with the aid of angels and gods, agriculture explodes across the Middle East, megalithic structures now appear, and even complex cities emerge. However, as the Watchers observed, they began to lust after the moral women and taught the humans forbidden divine knowledge, turning them against God and advancing their technology so much they would challenge the heavens themselves. Although some civilizations would fight back against this growing corruption and misuse of these gifts to which people from the land of Tas Tepler carved warnings of angering the celestials for humanity's arrogance. This, in addition to the rise of the Nephilim, caused God to bring down a Great Flood which wiped out most of humankind except for the family of Noah, which went on to repopulate the Earth.

Humans lived as one people during this time, attempting to reconstitute the golden age of Hyperborea where their earliest ancestors would come together under one united hand. But after the Fall of the Tower of Babel, humanity became fractured and were forced to disperse and establish separate civilizations in the lands of Mesopotamia, Ancient Egypt, the Indus valley, and China. Humans also established states like those in Ancient Greece or empires like the Aztec Empire, among others. Moreover, the remnants of what was uncovered from the Flood Age made its way into societal norms, the most notable of which was magic. Magic became one of the primary driving forces in the emergence of many fantastical kingdoms which were coupled with equally fantastical creatures and beings, many of whom coexisted alongside humanity partially in thanks to the fabled Convergence; a cosmic event that allowed these beings entry into our world and walk among us. Most of their societal contents and structure ascended to levels well beyond their time period thanks to the influence of Mekhane and her apostles the Da'at Yichud whose technology aided in their staggering advancement, but said technology often clashed with the beliefs and principles of magic itself.

Humans also endured several ages where they were plunged into an era of famine, death, and darkness. But through each age, God would send a prophet that would act as an envoy of His power in an attempt to fight back the growing darkness that was gripping humanity under the guise of a powerful yet tyrannical kingdom ruled by great demons and evils. It was spiritual warfare that was in constant stalemate for thousands of years regardless of faith. It reached its peak with the Dark Reign, where Hell's power seeped out of the Seven Gates, allowing humanity to fall into the grip of the demonic legions and for Earth to be blanketed in darkness and despair. From the Dark Reign, evil gripped humanity in its jaws once more just as it did in the Flood Age, as all fundamental principles like magic and science were twisted and warped to suit the malignant needs of sinful humans, their dark masters, and the creatures of the night. The Dark Reign found little opposition, until the final prophet Jesus Christ who was a great threat to Hell's hold over the souls of humanity. In retaliation, Satan himself poisoned the minds of his inner circle which led to his persecution and death by the Romans, ensuring that the Dark Reign would carry on.

However, the devils did not anticipate their rule to end by one of their own. This came in the form of Sparda, the Legendary Dark Knight, who took up his sword and fought against his former hellish masters for the sake of humanity's freedom. Sparda was joined by remnants of humans who opposed the darkness of Hell and did not succumb to its influence largely in part to Sparda's heroics reigniting the hope that dimmed in their spirits, allowing them to find the strength needed by lending their aid to the Dark Knight. The end of the Dark Reign, however, also resulted in much limited contact between humans and supernatural beings when he destroyed the Gates that channeled the dimensional energies emitted by the Convergence, but this was ultimately for the best since the Dark Reign disrupted the balance of nature and power between humans and the supernatural.

A.D.[]

With such restrictions, a huge margin of the human population went on with their lives but also lived by fascination of these myths and legends, with said myths and legends becoming nothing more than fairy tales largely in part to hunters like the Witchers keeping the peace. Human kingdoms would also expand or rebuild from the ashes of their Golden Age counterparts such as when the Roman Empire came to be after it was syncretized with Greece. Many of the mythological beasts and monsters of old have either gone into hiding or been driven to extinction by the human race, though some like werebeasts, vampires, and witches still walk among them in secret. In addition with technological advancements reemerging, magic was draining from the world, and with it the magical creatures grew weaker until they resorted to either be taken by the Convergence and live in realms like the Feywild or be forced to hunt for survival.

In modern times, humans have settled all around the globe, with a great many living in densely populated cities like New York, Tokyo, or Mexico City. Despite global crime being at a historic low, looming problems like global warming, pollution, income, inequality, and overpopulation threaten humanity, and many believe that the end of times is near. Due to advancements in technology through Mekhanism and Sarkicism which led to the creation of artificial intelligence, bioengineering, global surveillance, and nuclear weapons. Some have even begun to speak of the Apocalypse, with cults inspired by The Book of Revelations have amassed many followers under the leadership of false shepherds. Over time humans have formed various organizations that deal with the supernatural powers that exist among them. Some of these groups (like the Hellsing Organization, Order of the Silver Cross, Nightstalkers or the Vatican) are known to stand against supernatural forces such as vampires, demons, and even eldritch abominations.

Much of this ancient history is unknown to the civilian population, with only clandestine groups like the Federal Bureau of Control and Global Occult Coalition being aware of the supernatural and paranormal that exists in the world. The Global Occult Coalition works to suppress knowledge about the supernatural world while the Federal Bureau of Control works to contain anomalous entities and Objects of Power that threaten the stability of human civilization. When it comes to threats emanating from space, it is the Men in Black who ensure that humanity remains protected from and unaware of the presence of aliens on planet Earth until the species is able to handle the knowledge of extraterrestrial life.

Description[]

Human beings are made up of three interconnected and intertwined components known as the Body, Soul, and Spirit.

Body[]

The easiest to study and therefore the most understood by science is the Body, due to its physical nature. Human bodies range in terms of size, sex, and appearance in many ways, with races developing in communities and culture as human populations spread out across the globe.

Despite their physical differences however, many humans have come to value equality of treatment and acceptance of the disabled, though there are still those who stubbornly adhere to the antiquated beliefs of Survival of the Fittest.

Soul[]

As creations of God, humans are all imbued with a soul that serves as the embodiment of the divine purpose by which they are judged upon after their death. Human souls are valued greatly and sought after by malignant beings like demons for their powerful properties. Souls are said to be so powerful that not even Death herself can break them through force alone.

Each human, upon their death, must face judgment to determine where their soul will go in the afterlife. Those who have broken God's laws and/or lived a life of evil are to be sent to Hell for punishment, while those who lived virtuous lives find eternal solace in Heaven. While punishment in Hell is stated on several occasions to be eternal, some believe one can be redeemed from Hell by powerful divine beings.

Despite their innate power, souls are vulnerable to certain supernatural forces that can weaken, or influence them in many conceivable ways. One can come to lose their soul by living a vile and contrary to their divine purpose that the soul is corrupted, or by willingly selling one's soul to infernal beings like demons.

Spirit[]

The Spirit is the unique cosmic energy nascent within all things. In humans, it is the metaphysical energy projected from their very existence that reverberates throughout reality. This inner Spirit is unique to each individual and is what transcends the human body upon death. After death, the spirit may either ascend to have their soul judged by God, or may remain on Earth to wander as Undead. The most common of these undead spirits are ghosts, who remain due to unfinished business in the mortal plane.

The spirit is known to be much larger than the physical vessel it inhabits, and can become intertwined with places, objects, and even concepts. The spirit is the embodiment of a person's beliefs, values, and desires, and is what inspires and drives them through life. Those who lose spirit lack the willpower to act or persist, as they have lost the animating force within them and entered a state of depression. This state is able to be rectified, and when a human becomes in tune with their spirit, they are able to attain great power.

Human spirits are intricately linked with the universal cosmic energy through pools of energy known as Chakras. Humans who are able to cleanse themselves and awaken the Seven Chakras become able to access the Lightbody and become one with the cosmos.

Mortality[]

Human bodies can display a level of both fragility and durability depending on different circumstances, but in the grand scheme possess rather vulnerable bodies easily capable of being killed in many ways by the world around them. This knowledge of mortality is a driving influence on human society and individual humans, with some becoming emboldened by this fact while others become filled with existential dread. Throughout time, various religions have been founded in the attempt to find a way to escape this fate or be prepared for its eventual arrival.

Many supernatural beings, regardless of their origin and alignment, look down upon humans due to their mortal fallibility and physical frailty. Certain beings like Satan are known to have great disdain for the human race viewing them as savage and murderous creatures while others like deities simply view them as expendable resources or play things. Even other angels at times frown upon humans for their actions on Earth.

Quotes[]

Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness,so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals,[a] and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. God blessed them and said to them, “Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground.”
~ God create humanity Genesis 1:26-28
I have watched you trample my Father's gift. I have watched you kill each other over race and greed. Waging war over dust and rubble. And the words in old books. And yet, in the midst of all this darkness, I see some people who will not be bound. I see some people who will not give up, even when they know all hope is lost. Some people, who realize that being lost is so close to being found.
