In heaven Moses came upon the five angels of divine punishment
Among them was Hasmed, Angel of Annihilation.
For all the forces of Creation in the heavens and Earth there is but one undoer
To hear his voice is to know that you are deaf
To see his face is to know that you are blind
To feel his touch is to be no more.
~ Noah

Hasmed is the Angel of Annihilation and one of the five Angels of divine punishment that Moses had witnessed.

Description[]

Hasmed is a Destroying Angel and purportedly the most powerful of the angelic host. Hasmed is believed to be the physical manifestation of God's destructive side. Hence, his strength is said to rival the strongest of God's angels, including Michael and Lucifer.

History[]

War in Heaven[]

Hasmed first appeared during the War in Heaven, where many of Lucifer's allies were killed or cast out by Hasmed as Michael and the rest of the Heavenly Host faced off against Lucifer's main force. Hasmed engaged in a scuffle against Samael, now known as Satan, alongside Ariel. Ariel subdued Samael by one arm while Hasmed subdued him by the other arm, giving Abdiel an opening for him to drive his sword into his chest.

However, this only served to infuriate Samael as the Arbiter let out a terrible hollar that shook the stars and made angels flee in terror, knocking back Abdiel before doing the same to Hasmed and Ariel. Ariel, again, attempted to restrain him by holding the handle of his great hammer against his neck, while Hasmed unleashed blows of inconceivable power against Samael, of which were said to have rocked his very being to the core. Samael used the momentum of his hammer to toss Ariel into Hasmed before knocking the two angels away with his hammer.

Great Flood[]

Much later on, he was among the host of Destroying Angels, also leading said host, that was sent down during the dark days of Noah where the Nephilim ravaged the Earth and evil reigned. Hasmed brought destruction to particular individuals during the Pre-Flood Age such as the Brujería and many other similar sorcerers that use the darkest of magic to subjugate the tribes of man or bring ruin to people and lands.

Hasmed and the Destroying Angels targeted these powerful corrupted humans knowing that they would somehow find a way to survive the Flood so they opted to completely eradicate them. When the Flood subsided, Hasmed went into a deep slumber. Biblical scholars believe that the Genesis flood did not exactly pertain to a rapid rise of flooding waters but that it was symbolic of Hasmed's wrath, therefore, the "flood" being Hasmed himself who drowned the world and the wicked in ten thousand swords.

Sodom and Gomorrah[]

Hasmed was sent forth by God to unleash wrathful destruction upon the cities of Sodom and Gomorrah for their extreme wickedness. Angels were sent by God to warn Lot and his family of the impending destruction of the biblical cities, and as they lead Lot, his wife, and children far from the outskirts of Sodom and Gomorrah, God commands Hasmed and some Destroying Angels to rain down the most fearsome of Heaven's wrath.

Hasmed unleashed total destruction upon the cities to the point where nothing would ever again grow from the ground that the cities were built upon. The angels warn Lot and the others to not look back for Hasmed's wrath only welcomes the destruction of the body from the material plane. Lot and his two daughters are saved, but his wife disregards the angels' warning, looks back, and is turned into a pillar of salt from a brief glimpse of Hasmed.

Grigori Invasion[]

Hasmed was present during the Watcher's invasion of Heaven several years after the Apocalypse and Lucifer's defeat at the hands of the Dark Knight Initiative. Hasmed was released by Metatron in a bid to destroy the Watchers despite many objecting against this strategy since Hasmed would rock Heaven to its core with his assault. Hasmed was seen attacking the Five Satans of the Watchers and despite pouring all of their might to subdue Hasmed they could not slow down the Angel of Annihilation. Hasmed's battle against the Five Satans wrought destruction across the realm of Heaven to where it threatened the stability of the realm itself.

Eventually, during the scuffle, Lucifer was able to walk free from his prison since it was weakened from the battle. Lucifer acknowledged that Hasmed's rampage would only make things worse and volunteered to subdue the Angel of Annihilation to the bewilderment of his fellow angels. Lucifer diverged Hasmed's attention towards him and the Destroyer Angel could sense the Morningstar as the "Betrayer" prompting Hasmed to engage Lucifer in a mighty battle. Lucifer admitted that Hasmed truly lived up to his title as the Angel of Annihilation as he was capable of adapting to his moves and counter attacking. Lucifer understood that the longer the battle dragged on the more Hasmed would adapt and become nigh-unstoppable. So, Lucifer would trap Hasmed in a sphere of pure hydrogen plasma, condensing it so much that it would rapidly collapse unto itself as a singularity before imploding into a supernova. The attack was enough to temporarily incapcitate Hasmed until the angels quickly returned him to his confinement.
