Gmork

Gmork is a nightmare and a creation of Dream of the Endless.

Overview[]

Gmork is a resident of the Dreaming and is a nightmare similar to that of the Corinthian. Gmork's occupation is to be the monster that chases children in their dreams with the intent of devouring them and feeds on their hopes and dreams. However, Gmork is denied this more often than not and only rarely does he ever succeed, finding guaranteed success with abused children but is always opposed by Eve who provides motherly comfort to such children in their time of need.

When Dream was imprisoned, this gave Gmork the opportunity to move past the boundaries set by his master. He would ally himself with the Corinthian who also struck a bargain with Hastur into perverting the hopes and dreams of children into despair where Gmork would feed off them to his heart's content on the condition that Hastur is freed.

Appearance[]

Gmork is a nightmare that assumes the shape of a large, intimidating wolf-like beast with short jet-black fur and luminous green cat-like eyes and capable of human speech, as well as more fangs than an ordinary wolf would have.

Personality[]

Gmork is the "Monster at the End of the Book", essentially the Big Bad Wolf that lurks within the dark corners of a child's dreams, tempting them with false promises only to devour them to satiate his endless hunger. He is motivated by envy, spite, and gluttony; having a similar mindset like the Corinthian where he is not given his due because of the boundaries and was created simply to cause suffering and misery. This also led him to grow intensely envious of those who lead happy lives, especially ones that somehow managed to hold onto the hope despite all the suffering they endured.

He is vicious, nihilistic, and ill-tempered, but he is also highly rational, crafty, and calculated. Gmork takes glee in the suffering of dreamers and even the residents of The Dreamlands, desiring nothing less than the end of imagination, which would kill everyone in it, and is aware that this would also destroy the free will of humanity, out of a selfish lust for power and control.
