Valac, also known as Volac, Valak or Ualac, is the 62nd demon listed in the Ars Goetia and a Great President of Hell.
Description[]
He has thirty legions of demons at his disposal and is said to give true answers about hidden treasures. Also, he reveals where serpents can be seen, and delivers them harmless to the magician. Its appearance is said to be of a small poor boy with angel wings riding on a two-headed dragon.
History[]
Abbey of St. Carta[]
Valac was present and prominent around the construction of the Cârța Monastery. It is revealed that the Cârța Monastery was built somewhere in the country of Romania by a duke centuries ago. Becoming obsessed with dark magic and Satanism, the Duke attempts to summon a demonic force from the catacombs only to be killed by the Knights Templar who then sealed the rift with the Blood of Christ.
Hundreds of years later, the monastery was bombed heavily during the events of World War II, releasing the same evil spirit from its imprisonment. The demon had since taken the form of a little boy in the clothes of a priest or a girl in nun clothing as a means of blending with the other nuns as well as to mock their faith. Throughout the years, nuns continuously prayed in communion to combat the evil, but in vain as while the rift remained open, Valac was free to walk freely around the monastery every night, whilst killing them one by one. Hearing the disturbance over in Romania, the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense investigated the monastery and upon discovering the horrors that lurk about within these grounds Trevor Bruttenholm alongside Father Burke and Sister Irene were able to successfully banish Valac from the mortal plane.
Imprisonment and Return[]
He would also once try to steal the crown of Hellboy, hoping to harness the powers of the mysterious Right Hand of Doom. For this he was punished and imprisoned by Astaroth, who was the demonic "uncle" of the cambion. Several years go by, though in the case of Hell's flow of time it was in the thousands, and Valac found himself freed from his imprisonment by Astaroth upon Lucifer's release from his tomb, joining the Morning Star in his crusade to bring about a New World Order in the wake of the previously destroyed creation. At the same time, Valac was also in his second attempt to take Hellboy's crown only to be resisted each time by the cambion himself. Hellboy, however, made it clear that he is not interested in his birthright but cannot allow Valac to run around with that sort of power.
