The Fall of Man, the Fall of Adam and Eve, or simply the Fall, is an event where the first humans, Adam and Eve, succumbed to temptation and ate from the forbidden fruit of knowledge, thus breaking a sacred bond between them and God, and resulting in them being banished from the Garden of Eden and (according to some texts) many of the ailments that trouble modern humanity.
History[]
Tempted by Freedom[]
According to legend, after God created Adam and Eve, He allowed them to reside in the paradise known as the Garden of Eden where He granted them the freedom to do as what they please, but providing that they follow this one rule: to never eat from the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge.
Knowing of this agreement and using it to their advantage, Satan and Lilith snuck into the Garden of Eden to tempt Adam and Eve into eating from the tree. Lilith, in the form of an owl, would whisper words of power, doubt, independance, and self-reflection into Eve's eat as an owl, coaxing her enough for Satan, who possesses a Serpent, to deceive Eve. Controlling the mind of the serpent, he began to seduce Eve, the mother of humanity, into eating the Forbidden Fruit from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil which will grant them everlasting life and exalt themselves atop of the Mountain of God next to the Most High.
Much to their horror in their realization, they felt ashamed of their naked forms and also became fearful of God's wrath for breaking their promise to Him. So it was when God came to speak with His two creations He found them hiding, upon asking them why they hid from Him, they admitted to their crimes but Adam blamed Eve while Eve blamed the Serpent. Satan and Lilith left the Garden before God and His angels would find them and exact retribution.
Curse of Humanity[]
While God was not wrathful, He was disappointed and cursed them all, starting with the Serpent, who He removed the limbs of so it would forevermore slither across the ground. He then cursed Adam with hard labor and Eve with pain in childbirth. Finally, since the two had disobeyed God, they could no longer be permitted to live in Paradise, and thus had them removed and ordered Uriel, armed with a flaming sword, to stand watch over the Garden alongside the Cherubim so that no man could gain access to the Tree of Life.
As a result of this event it was said humanity lost its original state of innocence. Years later the idea of humanity falling further from grace and into deprivation was showcased when Cain the first son of Adam and Eve, in a fit of anger, killed his brother Abel, becoming the first murderer and villain.
