The Eternal Colosseum

The Eternal Tournament is a tournament organized by Maligog to entertain the realms of the multiverse.

Description[]

The tournament is held inside a massive circular colosseum where the arena is held. The main arena is heavily augmented with advanced alien technology, which allows it to defy some of the laws of physics and even create new ones - it warps time and space. It is stocked with various weapons, artifacts, and devices that facilitate combat. There are also numerous hazards, some of which are highly lethal.

Using the power of the Infinite Corridor which is augmented via the bodies that sacrificed to it during lethal duels, the coliseum is able to warp through space and time and be situated into different realms across the multiverse withe arena itself changing each time.

History[]

Background[]

The Eternal Tournament was a contest conceived by a powerful demon named Maligog. Originally in the distant past, Maligog hosted fighting arenas in Hell where two demon Praetors duel and the loser is banished to the Abyss. Maligog held a similar tournament on Earth which resembled a Roman colosseum and had humans duel each other to his and the audience's amusement during the Dark Reign. Maligog and his hobbies were thwarted by Sparda who tossed Maligog back into the rippling portal of the Hell Gate.

However, unbeknownst to Sparda, Maligog survived and somehow was able to harness the power of the Infinite Corridor to travel between realms across the multiverse. Knowing that the Infinite Corridor needs an apt sum of sacrifices to function, Maligog organized a tournament which was dubbed the Eternal Tournament. In this tournament, creatures and beings from all areas of the multiverse are captured forced to fight as gladiators in the arena. Beings performing long series of victory and providing the audience with spectacular fights were known as Maligog's Champions.

A New Champion[]

Maligog kept capturing and enslaving people for his tournament and eventually found one who would become famous: Cain, who was teleported away by Samuel Hayden after the latter realized he would hamper his plans of cultivating energy from the Dark Nexus. Seeing Cain as a formidable and ferocious fighter, Maligog quickly took a liking at the Father of Murder, who became the new favored Champion of the Eternal Tournament. Cain fought and killed numerous other contenders although there have been numerous instances of him escaping in order to stop Hayden.

A new contender was soon brought to Maligog: Dante, the Son of Sparda who was pushed into an unstable portal that was meant to open a way to the Dark Nexus. Maligog quickly recognized Dante as the son of the Dark Knight who was the reason why he was able to gain this much power in the first place. Instead of contempt, he showed the cambion gratitude by pitting him against Cain as he could definitely prove to be an interesting challenge for the Father of Murder.
