Overview[]

In the beginning there are only the god Abzu and the goddess Tiamat, the first beings, who sire all other gods. These new gods (Anu, Enlil, and Enki among them) start to bother Abzu for the noise they cause and he proposes to Tiamat that they kill them. Tiamat opposes this and tells Enki, who then decides to kills Abzu. This angers Tiamat, who creates an army of monsters, led by the god Kingu who is armed with the Tablet of Destinies.

The gods are terrified, until Marduk, son of Enki, steps up. He proposes that if he manages to defeated Tiamat and her forces, he would crowned as the King of the Gods, to which they agree. He then goes to battle and defeats Tiamat's forces and kill's Tiamat herself. Out of her body he created the known world and he is crowned as king. After this he creates humanity as servants and the city of Babylon, from which the gods would be honoured by them.
