Glyphs of Ecclesia which also serve as their symbol

Ecclesia, also known as the Order of Ecclesia, is an organization dedicated to keeping the great demon prince Kupala sealed away for eternity.

Overview[]

Ecclesia is an organization that ensures the imprisonment of the demon prince Kupala while also preventing any attempts of releasing him. Another prominently known fact about Ecclesia was their development of Glyphs, powerful magical magical symbols that contain arcane energies that serve as embodiments of all living things, used to counteract the dark powers of Hell.

By the early 20th century, information on Ecclesia is scarce, with the organization being a shadow of its once former glory. This is likely due to the remaining elders of the organization deliberately burying its history so as not to be targeted by nefarious groups while at their weakest. The Order would become partially defunct when it was nearly destroyed by a cult that opted to raise Kupala from the depths of the Earth.

History[]

Background[]

Ecclesia was supposedly founded hundreds of years ago, the exact date as to when is relatively unknown but according to Albus, who is a prominent member, Ecclesia first came together when Carpathia was known as the kingdom of Setera. While not named at the time, they were a group of mages and warriors that fought back against the growing darkness emanating from Kupala as it spread across Setera, fighting against hordes of monstrosities and demonic aberrations.

They were aided by Sparda, the Legendary Dark Knight, and an individual once thought to be a nomad named Villentretenmerth who was later revealed to be a mighty golden dragon. They and their allies would take the fight directly to Kupala as the great demon was finding a method of removing the spells that bound his masters to the Infernal plain. He would be confronted by the Legendary Dark Knight in a massive battle while the mages worked on sealing away Kupala inside his own Hell Gate using the same spell he taught to his followers to bind him on the Earth. The mages realized that to complete the spell they must use something with extraordinary mass as a reliquary to contain Kupala's massive essence in his Hell Gate; ergo sealing him into the earth itself.

Their hopes were rekindled when Villentretenmerth arrived and used his powers to create chasms around the land that Kupala dwelled in. Villentretenmerth then conjured forth great magic that uprooted chunks of the earth surrounding Kupala with Sparda collaborating in the effort by piercing Kupala with Yamato and creating spatial disruptions in reality's fabric between the material and immaterial that phased Kupala's very essence into the Gate before using his own powers to move these masses of earth into Kupala in conjunction with the spell that was led to the creation of what would be known as the Carpathian mountains. Thus came the formation of the organization known as the Order of Ecclesia, dedicated to ensuring Kupala's eternal imprisonment.

Battle of Blood[]

For many centuries, Ecclesia was tasked with keeping Kupala at bay and preventing his powers from influencing the material world. They have also thwarted the attempts of various malicious beings who intended to use Kupala for their own nefarious purposes. But their greatest challenge came in the form of Absalom, a mortal so deranged and monstrous he could hardly be considered human, now a deified vampire courtesy of a bargain waged with Kupala. Ecclesia was joined by an army of great werewolves led by Caspian himself to fight back against Absalom and the fiercest of his vampiric demons.

The mages of Ecclesia noticed that Kupala was nearly manifesting from the peak of the Carpathian mountains and in a bid to prevent the demon from reaching the human world, they performed the ultimate sacrifice by pouring the lionshare of their power fueled with spiritual energies of the Munin Howl courtesy of Caspian and his tribe to create a binding spell that sent Kupala tumbling and buried beneath the recesses of the Earth. The output of the spell was so great it even affected Absalom, providing enough time for the vampire to be incapacitated with a holy cross. This gave one of the soldiers from Ecclesia the opportunity to decapitate him and ending his heinous reign once and for all.
