Dzelarhons, also known as Dzalarhons, was the goddess of nature, mountains and volcanoes from Haida mythology, as well as the protector of animals.
She was originally an ordinary human, who was abused by her husband after getting married. This outraged her village, who came to rescue her from her husband, burning down the village where he resided. They tried to find her, but found only a stone statue of her holding a burning staff, signifying her transformation into a goddess. She was now a powerful goddess and guardian of animals.
One story describes Dzelarhons' vengeance. There were villagers who had such an abundance of fish in their waters that they began to torture and kill them for amusement. In response, Dzelarhons rumbled and erupted, killing them with her fiery rage
