Devil Arms, also known as Infernal Arms, are cursed demonic, living weapons that are commonly the manifestation of a defeated demon's soul or power.
Overview[]
When wielded, Devil Arms often convey their power to the wielder, provided they have been subdued first. As stated before, a Devil Arm can be obtained only when a character can defeat a demon and their very soul is transformed into a weapon.
However, a Devil Arm cannot be acquired from a normal demon, rather, it can only be obtained when defeating a demon with tremendous power. The Seven Kings of Hell are an example of great demonic power of which their souls can be weaponized into Devil Arms. Once a demon lord is destroyed, the weapon that is manifested takes aspects from the fallen demon itself and even wields a certain amount of their power within them.
Some Devil Arms, however, are not so easily obtained. When approaching the Devil Arm, the weapon will begin to test the wielder's worthiness of it through a certain excruciatingly painful test. One example being a set of gauntlets that will latch onto the wielder and will either burn their arms or even attempt to dismember them by flying through opposite directions.
Capabilities[]
A Devil Arm typical wields the elemental, demonic, and physical power of the demon that it manifested from via defeat of the demon. These powers inherent within the Devil Arm can be used by the wielder, provided that the wielder is resilient enough to use these abilities that the Devil Arm gives. It is also shown that a demon or half-demon can manifest their own power as a Devil Arm while they are still alive, as Sparda did with his three swords, the twins creating their own devil blades, and Vergil even creating his own gauntlets and grieves, known as the Urizen.
Devil Arms are also notoriously difficult to break as it usually requires extreme physical force from powerful individuals. Example of which was when Mundus shattered Yamato, Satan casually crushing the Beowulf gauntlets, and a punch from Lucifer destroyed Rebellion during the Apocalypse. If broken, the Devil Arm's fragments will retain their power: Yamato's shards retained the ability to cut rifts between the human and demon world. A Devil Arm also seems to exert some influence over the wielder, mainly over the Devil Trigger of one who is half-demon or full demon, however, this only applies to newly formed demons whom have not yet mastered their powers; Nezuko Kamado's physical shape, both in and out of her Yokai Burst, changed into a fiery themed appearance when she was given the Ifrit Devil Arm by Dante.
It is revealed that two different Devil Arms can be used simultaneously. This was shown when Dante used both the Ifrit and Gilgamesh Devil Arms, switching between both Devil Arms with masterful precision to inflict physical and pyrokinetic damage on his opponents and has even been seen using one Gilgamesh gauntlet and an Ifrit gauntlet on his right and left hands respectively. Devil Arms have also shown the capability of fusion although in of itself is a very difficult feat to accomplish for according to Nico, the Devil Arms must be compatible with one another in order to fuse otherwise they will repel one another. This was shown when Dante combined the Avarice chain-blades with Nevan, creating a scythe-like chained weapon with the scythe blades spinning rapidly all while unleashing both Nevan and Avarice's power at the same time.
