The Star-Spawn of Cthulhu

The Cthulhi, also known as the Star-Spawn of Cthulhu or Xothians, are an eldritch species that were spawned from the Old One, Cthulhu, but are of far smaller size.

Description[]

Initially described as "a land race of beings shaped like octopi and probably corresponding to the fabulous pre-human spawn of Cthulhu," the Star-Spawn are also described as being "composed of matter more widely different" than that which is native to our universe, with a maw that split into three separate prongs all while exhaling a bluish green flame that were like 'crowns'. And their physicality so malleable that they might to some small degree be called shapeshifters, for "They were able to undergo transformations and reintegration impossible for [The Elder Things]."

Overview[]

It is said that the Star-Spawn came to Earth alongside Cthulhu and the rest of ilk from Xoth which rests in an unknown binary star system. After reaching the planet, they aided Cthulhu and the monstrous beasts associated with him in their battle against the Elohim to claim dominion over the Earth. However, Cthulhu and the Ogdru Hem were defeated with Cthulhu being forced into a deep slumber from the misalignment of the stars all while his citadel sinks inti the Pacific Ocean. Most of the Star-Spawn perished or went into a death-like slumber as well, either in R'lyeh or across different regions of the Earth's watery plains.

According to the murals found deep beneath the uncharted regions of the Antarctic mountains, the Elder Things were said to have warred with the Cthulhi as the latter were not too keen on allowing these foreign extraterrestrial beings to have their way with the planet whilst the Ogdru Hem were imprisoned or destroyed. How the Cthulhi and the Elder Things battled while the former were in a death-like sleep is unclear though it is speculated that while R'lyeh itself rises during the proper alignment of the stars, Cthulhu does not as the gods took precautions in ensuring that he remains entombed in his own citadel, but the gods took no heed of the Star-Spawn as most were able to wake.
