The Crimson Lotus, or the Minamoto clan, was a prominent clan in the Heian period that is part of the Kisatsutai. The clan is said to be that which all shogun have claimed descent, and a mighty splinter group dedicated to destroying demonic forces throughout Japan and China. The Minamoto established the first shogunate, marking the rise of the samurai class and the beginning of a period of over 600 years during which Japan would be under samurai (warrior) rule.
History[]
During the days of Japan's feudal era, the ancestors of the Minamoto clan were plagued and plundered by oni and other monstrous creatures. The ancestors of this clan made a pact with the shinto creator god Izanagi and vowed to remove all traces of evil from the land. In doing so, Izanagi promised to bless a thousand generations with the will and power to combat all evil which threatened their lands. And from that day forth, the Crimson Lotus was born and became legendary throughout Japan. Izanagi then gave the Crimson Lotus to the shinto storm god Susanoo in order to carry out their mission of destroying all evil that threaten Japan with the merciless force of the storms under Susanoo's blessing.

Along with the Fujiwara, Tachibana, and Taira clans, the Minamoto were one of four clans which dominated Heian politics and court society. At the time, however, the Minamoto and Taira clans were one but split due to differences over how they operate and have treated each other with animosity and hostility as a result; it is more poetic as the Taira clan now destroy evil under Amaterasu's name since Amaterasu and Susanoo have not always gotten along. However, after the defeat of Lucifer and Satan along with the thwarting of the Apocalypse, Ling Yao of the Minamoto clan decided it would be better if they would join as one family once again seeing as how despite their differences they are willing to fight for the common good and that their constant quarrels will never give them peace. As a result he promises to join all clans together so he could protect them. The Taira accepted this.
