Corvax
“ | Despite the fact that they can be mischievous assholes and could never shut the fuck up, you can't deny they're pretty damn good at their job. A vampire can't fart in Jersey without every Corvax in California knowing about it. Honestly I don't think our race would've survived this long without them. | „ |

Corvaxes, also known as Wereravens, are a type of therianthrope that take the shape of anthropomorphic ravens.
Description[]
Like most other werebeasts that display control over their transformation, Corvaxes can assume several variations of their beastial form. When transforming, they grow feathers from their skin, which slowly turn into large wings (allowing them to be proficient in aerial combat). In this process, the arms would move downwards to accommodate the wings, whilst the mouth transformed into a beak.
Often times they have enough control to where their faces are even untouched with several black blotches only surrounding their eyes and face. They could also divert these changes to different parts of their body while still retaining their human forms as seen with one Corvax simply changing its arms into wings leaving the rest of its body untouched and also sporting long talons to defend itself.
Corvaxes are also able to assume the form of a common raven which is noticeably larger than an actual raven; their forms also resemble other species like a Carrion crow or a Torresian crow. This is one of their most common transformations they take as suits their function of being scouts or spies for the Werewolves. Corvaxes in human form have been described as "underfed punk rockers" with black hair, blackish red eyes, and clothing. They tend to be small, thin, and slightly pale.
Overview[]
The origins of Corvaxes like most werebeasts are traced back to divine means which in their case would be the Rainbow Crow itself. According to one Corvax, the Rainbow Crow blessed the early humans with the power to shift into a Corvax as a means to shepherd and guide those who are lost in harsh storms. A human can turn into a Corvax by having to prick themselves with the calamus of its feather.
They are also one of the few, if not the only, werebeasts that are on good terms with Werewolves. In fact, studies show that Corvaxes have a warm symbiotic relationship with Werewolves, acting as their spies, scouts, and guides which mimics the natural relationship between wolves and ravens. This relationship also stemmed from the time when the Rainbow Crow used the Heavenly Fire to guide the sons of Lycaon to safety from Zeus's wrath. The relationship between the two is positive to where several young Corvaxes have even been shown taking care of lycan pups and even play with them.
Because of their zeal for gossip and spying, Corvaxes are highly talkative and mischievous werebeasts. They have quite the reputation for knowing things which makes them invaluable allies to werewolves and other authorities as well. Corvaxes can even relay information during times of war like messenger pigeons. A Corvax's loyalty lies with a werewolf though they can ally themselves with other individuals, including humans, however the relationship between a human and a Corvax is rocky at best as expected of a werebeast's view on humans. They can still acquire information out of loyalty for their wolf as seen with Miguel needing information from his Corvax to aid his human master Ivan Romanov.
Capabilities[]
While Corvaxes are not suited for combat they are still categorized as extremely dangerous to humans and other lower monsters. Corvaxes are very swift and agile being capable of keeping up with other werebeasts like the Ananasi. What they lack in strength they make up for in stealth and intellect as they are one more intelligent therianthropes, which pertains their invaluable occupation for the werewolves.
Because of their speed and agility, Corvaxes are extremely difficult to hit, particularly when they assume their beastial form. They only take such a form when negotiations fall on deaf ears and have no choice but to defend themselves. They also, like any werebeast, are superhumanly strong more so than regular humans but weaker than other werebeasts. Their main form of weaponry are their wings which can be used for both defense and offense; the defense revolves around their wings being used as shields and offense is that their feathers are razor sharp thus used as though it is a frill covered with blades that can bisect a human in one clean swipe. Such attacks can also be amplified via magical means which they also possess. Their magic is related to a form of umbrakinesis - manipulation of darkness or shadows - but is used sparingly in combat and is more commonly used as a means of escape or stealth.
Corvaxes also wield other abilities related to their transformations. Older and more experienced Corvaxes are able to disperse their bodies in a flock of ravens and have even been shown to teleport leaving an inky black mist with black feathers in their wake. Younger Corvaxes can only assume the shape of a regular raven though noticeably larger than actual ravens. Corvaxes are more widely known for their intelligence which is purportedly unparalleled amongst the therianthrope race. They are able to gather whatever information needed that is vital for wolf pack they are aligned with which in turn has proven to turn the tides to said wolf pack in many occasions. Some Corvaxes have even bragged about being faster than the internet; while this is an obvious exaggeration, they survived many conflicts between lycans and vampires by being the fastest means of communication available to their respective lycan parties.
