“ | I am the white knight! I am victory incarnate! To join your side would be a compromise! I will permit nothing less than total conquest! Now, fight me! Let the strongest between us be the victor! | „ |
~ Conquest |
Conquest, also known as The White Rider or The White Horseman, is one of the Horsemen of the Apocalypse.
Overview[]
Riding upon the white horse named Glory, the Horseman of Conquest. This Horseman is one of confusion amongst theologians as some believe he is representative of divine conquest (and thus a force of good) while others think of him as a representative of unlawful conquest (and thus a force of evil).
Regardless of his morality the Horseman of Conquest is said to arrive and sweep across the world, unleashing civil war and internal strife, which separates him from War, who embodies more open warfare.
Description[]
The rider of the White Horse (sometimes referred to as the White Rider) carries a bow, and wears a victor's crown. In Revelation 6, the rider has just one crown given, not taken, indicating a third person giving authority to the rider to accomplish his work.
Personality[]
Conquest is always calm and confident. He disguises himself as a well-mannered, silver-tongued traveling noble and gains the admiration and adoration of all of the people he speaks to. Quick-witted and power-hungry, he enjoys walking into the castles of great kings and emperors and convincing them to give up their crowns to him. All but a few are able to turn down his request, and once he puts a crown on his head, all within his realm fall under his subjugation.
Similar to his brother War, Conquest lives for the thrill of battle and is more focused on having the battle be won. Conquest's insatiable drive to lead the armies of the apocalypse to glorious conquest over the Earth is what makes others able to distinguish him from War. Conquest is not openly volatile like War and is always focused, stern, and straightforward. However, there lies an undertone of wrath and pride when he speaks.
Power and Abilities[]
As one of the Horseman of the Apocalypse, he is a very powerful entity and is said to be third in power amongst the Horsemen. Despite being in third in power amongst his siblings, Conquest was an extremely deadly and powerful being who was more than capable of fending off some of the forces of Earth's greatest attacks. Like his fellow Horsemen, Conquest's very presence creates a disastrous influence over mortals and other creatures, however, it is noted to have a more profound affect on those with an ambitiously power-hungry mind whereas he could have these certain individuals exert their own power on the masses and have them under their control or destroy them if they are met with resilience.
Perhaps Conquest's greatest weapon is his Conqueror's Bow where a single arrow shot creates untold devastation wherever it hits. The impact of the arrow itself completely left the likes of Nero and Hellboy in utter shock with the latter quippingly calling it a "neat trick". These arrows could also duplicate themselves into numerous arrows with Conquest even able to change the trajectory of the arrows themselves. Furthermore, he too, like his fellow Horseman, is a highly adept combatant where he could hold his own against the likes of Nero and Hellboy simultanously, eventually overwhelming the two cambions as the fight continued. Even Nero in his Devil Trigger state could not completely turn the tides against this mighty Horseman though Conquest admitted that he was mildly surprised by Nero's boost in power.
Quotes[]
“ | I watched as the Lamb opened the first of the seven seals. Then I heard one of the four living creatures say in a voice like thunder, “Come and see!” I looked, and there before me was a white horse! Its rider held a bow, and he was given a crown, and he rode out as a conqueror bent on conquest. | „ |
~ Revelations 6:1-2 |
“ | The end of the world? That is a simple inevitability. All that is created is destined to some day be destroyed after all. My purpose is to simply guide this world to that point. I hold no fear for that moment. Instead, I will embrace it and in doing so will see the world in its purest, most beautiful form. Tell me, do you desire to see that world as well? | „ |
