“ | "Crazy"? Yeah, maybe it is crazy. But from what you told me 'bout all the shit you've seen and done you're really gonna stand in front me and say "time-travel" is fuckin' crazy? Our world's dead up there and my ass was floating inside a geodesic for twenty years. I'll be damned if I don't get it back the way it was so I can finally know what hell a Big Mac tastes like. So let's move this along sweetheart cuz we're way past the point of crazy. | „ |
~ Colt Vahn to Jessie Blazkowicz |
Colt Vahn was the former head of security for GRU Division "P" that was trapped in a time-loop on Blackreef. He would become instrumental in aiding the surviving populations of humanity a second chance to regain their home after the Death Stranding event by creating a time-machine to undo what Nyarlathotep did.
Appearance[]
Colt Vahn is a human of African descent with an American-Russian nationality. He has black hair that is trimmed short and his beard is tidy.
His outfit consists of an old gradient brown Perfecto leather jacket with a painted "Dead Dogs" logo on the back and an array of pins and patches each holding significance, worn thick coated canvas khaki trousers and worn dark thick leather suede military boots. He has a cross-chest leather pouch and a bicep grenade holder, also made of leather. Underneath the jacket, Colt sports a dark purple turtleneck sweater, finished with wrist short dark orange thick leather gloves.
History[]
Background[]
Colt was born in 1911 to an American father and Russian mother. He was also a member of GRU Division "P"'s Science Division. In the early 1950s, the existence of LIM technology was made public by the United States government, a technology that harnesses enormous amounts of energy which was secretly extrapolated from the corpse of Pangloss that was discovered in the Olympic Peninsula. Such a power would greatly benefit Russia, and so Colt Vahn was sent to infiltrate ARDA and divulge the schematics detailing the functionalities of LIM technology towards GRU Division "P".
Afterwards, Colt alongside several other scientists and their research teams would be enlisted into an expedition dubbed as Operation Horizon to establish a base of operations on Blackreef where the time anomaly was running rampant. They would use the LIM technology to build the Stabilizer Antenna in order to contain and examine the power and possibilities of its influence and, if successful, harness the time anomaly's potential. They discovered that the Stabilizer Antenna would balance the temporal frequencies of the anomaly at a considerable wavelength to create and Einstein-Rosen bridge. Colt would volunteer in the proposed experiment — flying the proprietary rakyetoplan into the bridge.
Stuck in a Loop[]
The experiment did not go as planned, and Colt, along with the rakyetoplan were lost to the temporal anomaly, thus he was subsequently reported as missing approximately seven weeks after his departure, presumed dead by GRU Division "P". In truth, Colt was stuck in a continuous time-loop where he never ages. All the while he attempts to escape by gathering broken pieces of the monolith that was built by the Yithian who lived on Blackreef so many years ago and was the culprit behind the anomaly to harness Residium in order to navigate the Kruskal–Szekeres coordinates to break the loop.
Colt discovered that he was trapped in the temporal tunnel for twenty years despite feeling as though it was only several hours. Upon returning he was instead met with a barren and desolate Earth that was overtaken by the Ogdru Hem. He was able to escape in a dropship from the ARC and made it to the Hollow Earth where humanity took refuge. Meeting with the remnants of the now defunct Dark Knight Initiative in Brückenkopf, Colt proposed a solution to fix this cataclysmic event; time travel. Although laughed at, even with the advancements in technology they made, they relented when they heard from Cybele that it is indeed possible. Colt would join a team to gather crystalized Chiralium to stabilize the quantum tunneling effect and contain the frequencies using LIM technology.
