“ | We're around. We'll be in every drop of falling rain, every speck of dust that the wind blows, and in the sand, in the rocks, and the sea. (...) And those answers will be in each of them. Maybe not today but...someday. People don't need to pray to us or to sacrifice to us. They just need to know that we're already a part of them and to trust in that. We won't be hands on. | „ |
~ Calvin explains his and Elaine's decision after becoming the new Supreme Beings |
Calvin "Cal" Bloom, is the Nephilim son of Lucifer and Alana Bloom. He is the second known Nephilim to be sired by an archangel after his cousin Elaine Belloc.
After the Final Conflict, Calvin becomes the new Supreme Being over existence alongside Elaine, gaining the sum total of God's power and being with Elaine attaining Asherah's, and presides over a Universe they remade.
Overview[]
Cal is the son of Lucifer and Alana Bloom, a psychology professor and FBI consultant. Cal was conceived during the midst of Lucifer's self-imposed exile on Earth, much later after the Grigori invaded Heaven and Azathoth's containment. It is unknown whether Cal was born after or before Elaine though it is speculated that they were born roughly around the same year.
As a Nephilim, specifically the hybrid offspring of an archangel and a human, Cal is one of the most powerful beings to ever exist and the only one who is equal to Elaine. Unfortunately, like Elaine, Cal would be hunted by powerful forces that seek to use his power or simply kill him outright as he is perceived as a grand threat also like Elaine. Whereas Elaine was raised under the care of the Devil May Cry agency, Cal would be taken in by John Constantine albeit with great reluctance.
Nix proposed that they take Cal to the Izalith Academy in order for him to better explore and understand how to use his powers while also being protected. It was from there that Calvin also finally met Elaine who was brought to the Academy under the hopes of her being taught to better hone her powers but was rejected by Constantine as having two Nephilim sired by two of the strongest archangels would only incite a far greater risk of exposure and collateral damage.
Appearance[]
Calvin took on the form of a Caucasian human young adult with dark brown hair when recalling his mother's words of the world being dangerous for an infant. Like his cousin Elaine, Calvin's eyes often glow white when he uses his powers and his hair assumes the same ethereal appearance when his powers are in use. Calvin would often wear the same outfit which consisted of a beige jacket with a white shirt underneath and dark jeans complete with Timberland boots. Calvin would also sport large angelic wings that glow a brilliant whitish gold.
Personality[]
Even though he is the Nephilim son of Lucifer, Cal does not appear to share most of his father's worst traits. He did however inherit Lucifer's skill in public speaking as he demonstrated during Show and Tell during his time at the Izalith Academy where the students and even the teachers were amazed by his way of wording. Unlike most of Lucifer's children, Cal was shown to enjoy some simple pleasures such as eating junk food with Teddy Morse and using his powers to get them some more. Cal has taken to using the computer more often after Zelma Stanton showed him how to use it and mostly watches videos or plays games.
Because of his own heritage as the son of Lucifer, Cal has shown an at least somewhat sympathetic view toward those like him (mistaken to be evil monsters despite the fact that Lucifer was redeemed) as he connected with Dessy, the demon daughter of S'ym. Cal comforted her after she expressed sadness that she was unable to help anyone and she accepted his words. He also showed sympathy towards Elaine as she struggled to control her power. He later attempted to convince her that there can be more use to her powers. Initially, Calvin showed great remorse in accidentally killing someone even when he killed people out of self-defense. Eventually, Calvin had come to accept, and by his father's words, that he only kills out of necessity and never without reason.
