Bughuul (Art by thewebsurfer97)

Bughuul, also known as Bagul and Mr. Boogie, is an ancient demon who consumes the souls of human children.

Description[]

Bughuul is a demon that assumes the form of a tall, nightmarish, humanoid creature resembling a man with pale skin and long black hair. His most distinctive features are his lack of eyes and mouth. It is explained that his mouth was forcibly sewn by his master Moloch.

History[]

Background[]

Bughuul was a Babylonian demon who was part of Moloch's court in Hell. Bughuul was among the demons who relished in devouring the flesh and souls of human children. He continued to do so up to the Dark Reign, when the dark forces of Hell gripped the human world in its claws. When Sparda defeated the lords of Hell and destroyed the gates, Bughuul went into hiding, but emerged when Moloch announced more discreet means of being fed human children in collaboration with a secret society that acts as his cult of worshippers the Bohemian Club.

When the Ratri family made a Faustian wager with Moloch by building several "orphanages" which were in actuality farms that bred and raised children, Bughuul participated in this unspeakably malicious hellish ring. However, Bughuul was beginning to feel cheated as he was served low quality human meat from the Factory Farms which results in them gaining the low intelligence of the humans from those farms. Bughuul would not stand for this and so gathered his own small circle of demons who too were not complacent in being fed low quality meat to steal and swindle from Moloch and the high-ranking demons from the premium meat. When Moloch discovered that there was a considerable uneven distribution of the premium meat, his investigation led to Bughuul's activities being discovered. Enraged, Moloch sewed Bughuul's mouth shut, preventing him from ever knowing the taste of a human child's flesh, casting him out of his court.

Sinister Murders[]

When Moloch's plantations and farms were destroyed thanks in part to a young John Constantine and Emma, one of the orphans, Bughuul decided to take this opportunity to begin his reign of terror without worrying about Moloch. Bagul became a fearsome demon that would influence children to sacrifice their families in many grotesque ways before transporting them to the netherworld. There, he would slowly consume their corrupted souls. Then, he would target the next family who moves in the residence of the sacrificed family. However, he only triggers his next move if this family moves to another residence, due to the hauntings of Bughuul and his damned accomplices. Fortunately, Bughuul's activities drew the attention of a now teenage Emma, the orphan that escaped Moloch's farm, who was leading her own investigation on a series of family murders.
