A painting of what is believed to be members of the Brujería

The Brujería, or La Brujería, is an organization of witches, warlocks, and other powerful entities affiliated with demons and ancient malevolent deities. It is implied that they were a branch of the Illuminati and are the ones behind the summoning of the Grigori to bring forth Azathoth.

Overview[]

The Brujería have an infamous and legendary reputation, especially with wielding untold magical power, to the point where expert occultists, sorcerers, and supernatural hunters are in both fear and awe of the feats that they have accomplished and can perform.

The organization is highly secretive, with its members concerned about keeping their identities secret, summoning and binding demons to act in their stead. As such, their operatives include malevolent entities like Lamashtu and primordial evils like the Serpent, showing just how powerful the people behind the summonings are. It is believed that the Brujería are the magical sect of the Illuminati and were the ones responsible for summoning and binding demons to aid the Illuminati in freeing Lucifer and beginning the plan for a New World Order.

History[]

Origins[]

The Brujería operated in Chilóe long before it even became the island of Chilóe, remaining hidden for centuries when they were separated from the Illuminati after the latter's formation in Ancient Egypt, although the warlocks' bloodlines were being kept track of. According to the legends, Brujería wielded magical power the world has never even known about.

Seeing the danger they posed, God sent forth a host of destroying angels to smite them down, making sure none of them were left. However, some have managed to survive using their magic but even then none of the world's occult experts believed they survived for not even Hell would give them asylum.

American Gothic[]

Despite the thwarting of the apocalypse and Lucifer's imprisonment, the after-effects proved to be beneficial for the Brujería as the apocalypse's effects weakened the metaphysical barriers that kept certain malevolent and powerful forces at bay, among these forces were the Grigori, also known as the Watchers, a host of angels that fell from Heaven for meddling in the affairs of humanity and corrupted their development and advancement. The objective of the Brujería was nothing less than the utter destruction of Heaven.

It is revealed that Samyaza, the leader of the Grigori, promised the Brujería in bringing forth the desired New World that they originally sought. And in following his commands, they will release him by weakening his chains that keep him and his kin at bay and summon Azathoth. They instigated a series of events to increase humanity's belief in the supernatural, specifically, those elements of the supernatural commonly associated with darkness and evil. As the psychic faith of humanity's belief strengthened, the power of the Darkness became more pronounced. This, however, in turn led them to being opposed by the Midnight Suns, a loose alliance of individuals intimately versed within the supernatural.

Historical Accounts[]

Early Brujería can be traced back as far as the 1500s when the archbishop of Santo Domingo and fifth bishop of Puerto Rico, Nicolás Ramos, recorded his recollections of ‘black brujos [male and female] who engaged with the devil in the shape of a goat and, every night in front of this goat, cursed God, Santa María, and the sacraments of the Holy Church.’’ Ramos wrote, ‘‘Asserting that they did not have nor believe in a god other than that devil…they performed these rituals in some fields [apparently they were in a trance] ,…not in dreams since there were some people who saw them.’’ These people, Ramos continues, ‘‘tried to make them [the sorcerers] refrain from their doings through chanting and holy gifts [ dádivas ], and with all this [information they] came to me.’” This perpetual demonization of elements of African worship set up the forefront to the centuries of demonization of Brujería practices.
